I'm off to a big music sale at the local showgrounds tomorrow. Knowing the vendor it'll be Schecter, Yamaha, Ashton, Ibanez, SX, and maybe some random other stuff. I did see an interesting looking Schecter Tele once with coil taps and pretty nice action, but too much of a bank buster for me. Need more money lol
Might see something interesting....

Haven't ever really been a fan of Lace Sensors, so I'd probably say the 50th ann version. Shame you can't try both

Thanks guys. I'm never going to win a speed contest, so it's nice to hear some good feedback I muck around with the pentatonic scale a bit, don't really know anything else well. Just try and listen for where I can fit things in. Was just thinking some wah could work in there too. Have a go Mohikanas

lesblues lol I meant no offence, but yes we are a rugby country too I figured I was addressing mostly Americans who think rugby is this quaint little game played in England so must be like soccer. Although I have seen rugby on ESPN - and it's been a while since I've been back to visit the relatives. You guys might know more than I think www.youtube.com/watch?v=heoO_5MvZ0wSorry most of the recent scotland games on youtube are recorded on a mobile phone by someone who can't hold still

Bump for good advice. I do the same but with Pride and Joy where you play your E chord then walk up, 4th fret on the E, 2nd on A, 4th on A, then 2nd on D. I'll play this in different tempos, or swing it. Instead of starting at the 4th fret on the E for the 2nd time through I'll walk back down or generally muck around with the pattern.

I could also say things like "The place Russell Crowe is actually from and not where he pretends to be". Being a music forum I should probably have said where Crowded House or Dragon are from, but they pretend to be Australian too. And I probably just lost anybody still reading.
Ahh crap I should have said "The place where that 7.1 earthquake was 2 weeks ago but nobody died cos we're good like that"

I'll try some clean lead when I get home if you don't mind sure I can figure a way to put the two together with a bit of jiggery-pokery.

You're joining an established band by the sounds of things. If you're changing existing songs this can be seen as taking steps backwards as the rest of the band has already learned them - but then I'm kinda baffled why he's asking for input, so obviously thinking something is missing. Record the sessions - we've started doing it and it's a MASSIVE help to find problems.
If you enjoy playing with the guys and the sound is good I'd suggest maybe put your creativity more into a separate project, since it sounds like he's uninterested in collaborating. Otherwise maybe look for a band that isn't so established. It's a heck of a lot more work, but you'll get more input.

Those are fantastic looking shots RK. No idea what my on stage presence is going to be like. I'd like it to be like Albert Collins, but it's probably going to be like Roy Buchanan lol I agree that you don't have to be jumping around to be into your stuff, but you are there to 'perform'.
Jumping off amps not included.

Suppose I'd better stick in a hello too. My name's Robert, and I'm an alcoh.... erm... no no wrong forum. I'm an IT Manager for an automotive company in Auckland, New Zealand (also known as that place where the Lord of the Rings was filmed, or where The Flight of the Concords are from). I also play guitar I'd like that to be the other way around, but what you gonna do. I play mostly blues based stuff, but have been known to venture around. After playing piano and tenor sax, life generally interrupted my music career. After hearing EC's Unplugged I was spurred into blues guitar, that I've just mucked around with for years. There was a time I could play that whole album. After a couple of false starts the band seems to be coming along. We have a set of about 50 songs together, almost ready to gig. The line up has changed and the songs are a bit different now, but we are on www.reverbnation.com/bluestonenzI generally fingerpick in a style I'd call "You finger hit string now". I double stop a fair bit in solo's being the only guitarist in our band. At the moment I'm trying to get into some Cropper style riffing. "Follow the dots" man Current "in use" gear is: Squier Classic Vibe Thinline Tele in Natural with Kinman Broadcaster pups DeArmond M-10 Les Paul copy with funky "D" shaped bridge - tuned to open G for slide Dean Resonator CE Mesa Boogie 5:50 Express - I never thought I'd own a Mesa, but it was cheaper than the Fenders I was looking at and very versatile.... wtf? Ceriatone Prinzeton head running through a Blackstar 1x10 - sweet little amp I wired myself. Has some tremolo issues, due to my wiring no doubt, but yeah it's still nice

Always good to work on left hand technique. Would be nice to be a left-handed player on a right-handed guitar like Mark Knopfler; I'm sure it contributes to his super clean sound having that extra strength there. Might buy myself a set of grips again.

Rory is fantastic, yeah didn't intend the unfortunate pun of posting "too much alcohol", but it's a wicked slide song that I always enjoy from him. Rory stayed pretty true to what he was doing - and is generally only known by guitarists which is a shame. We have Bad Penny in our set list, looking to add others later. Rant warning The younger guys not only have to deal with fad being against them, but also blues purists who want everything to be played like the old days. Then if you play like that you're 'copying' and they don't like that either. A surprising number of muso's I've met won't play SRV / Clapton on principle as they're not 'real blues', but then will regard say Gary Moore as blues? Feh it's all too narrow minded in my opinion. Ok rant over.

Went to a SRV tribute concert that was on over here on the 27th Aug. He was good, played the songs pretty authentically, also played some influences of Stevie - tho don't know how he could do that without playing any Albert King... It'll never be the same, but it's good to hear them performed and done well. RIP SRV

Running full pelt into that monitor had to hurt. If he didn't enjoy his stage dive / dirt faceplant the mob probably got him.
No not just you Mojo, esp that first bend in the solo sounded like he didn't quite hit the note, adjusted it, then released it badly. On the one hand it happens, but on the other how many times has he played the song. Fresh strings will give out on you sometimes, but I'm sure he has a more than capable guitar tech?
