Me: Is that a Steely Dan recording?
My bassist Brother: No, the bastards are playing live.

Hey Happy Jack, you have a schecter pt. How did you find it? You said before you were changing the pickups. Why is this? It's probably going to be somewhere in my final selection.

Visited one of the stores today. They had the Schecter PT Fastback which has gotten my attention before - that said this store is mainly Ibanez so all thin necks... They did have the Maton 12 string model tho which surprisingly had a thin neck....

Hey guys. I'd like to try out some thicker necked electric guitars. Any suggestions? I know Mojo likes the Crooks, but the chance of me getting a Crook here is pretty remote and the shipping would make me broke I've tried looking online, but neck thicknesses seem to be the holy grail of guitar making and few websites want to share. Don't blame em but it makes research (and hence buying) hard! Mojo estimated the thickness of the Crooks at about an inch at the nut which is pretty big compared to any guitar I presently own. So aside from Fender et Gibson, the likes of Cort, Schecter, Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Danelectro (who I must say has a crap website), PRS are pretty easily available. I've seen a Maton I might check out also... Otherwise I'm going to have to go to like 3-4 music stores since each one here has ownership over particular brands.... Not really a bad thing to tick around a few music stores for a day! But it's harder to compare guitars when you can't A+B them in one place.

We're doing a couple of watermelon slim songs, little red rooster, and walking blues in slide. Yeah I was wondering a while back who beat Bonamassa in 09 so I know who you mean. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGmLsLmT11AHonestly the 2nd slide makes the odd note sound bad to my ears. Don't get me wrong - I find slide difficult as is and couldn't even approach 2 slides. but the second part he plays better with just one slide. seems more like a gimmick to me if it makes the sound worse - maybe I'm just jealous lol

Ahh HJ I do like Bad Influence and it was on my list prior to editing heh. But like you say it depends what sort of mood you're in. Midnight Stroll isn't bad either I tell you what tho Joe Bonamassa's Black Rock has me head banging in the car - I haven't done that in a long time. Haven't had the CD long enough to see if it stays in rotation tho

My first guitar was a hmmm, one second..... an Encore acoustic made in taiwan.... the machine heads are crudded. I guess I was about 7-8. I had one acoustic before this, but can't remember any details. My first electric was a Peavey strat copy - I believe a Falcon, I did ask peavey once but I can't find the email anymore. It started out red, it's now black and purple and more or less my destroy / try stuff guitar. It's currently in a neck pickup blending style wiring. My first amp was a marshall 15w valvestate. Silverface Champ? nice

lol yeah I don't use it anymore. We do a few SRV songs, but I either tune them up a half step, or just play them in his key without retuning. So some G#'s etc Working with a harp player means some scales don't go so we have to move them or no harp. I think I've settled on open G for my slide - gives a nice full drone sound. But yeah I don't do funny things like drop D etc. All my solo's are improv so far

Good to see Al DiMeola and Eric Johnson - tho EJ is far better known in the US than he is outside.
Mine... hmmm.... you could make it 100 albums and I'd probably find this hard... heh It's actually more difficult who I'm leaving out than putting in.
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Rory Gallagher - Etched in Blue Eric Clapton - From the Cradle Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland - Showdown Joe Satriani - Joe Satriani

I even tried an Em tuning for a while, I know he played Fm, but I wanted to keep the frets the same. Was interesting how it changed my phrasing - made some things really easy, and others real hard. I was always impressed the sounds he could get out of it yet was capo'd so high.

Probably every 2-3 days, but I've been putting in more time lately. Almost never a serious practice unless I want to learn a song/riff.
