Brand new 76 Fender Strat. Sunburst with black pickguard and white pickups with rosewood fingerboard. Got a brand new silverface Champ with it. I was fourteen. One of the advantages of my dad being a professional guitarist. He hated that I wanted to play but he knew how to pick out a guitar. I still have the amp, but the guitar was traded away for a Les Paul. Why? Because Ace Frehley played a dadgum LP, that's why.

My first guitar was a hmmm, one second..... an Encore acoustic made in taiwan.... the machine heads are crudded. I guess I was about 7-8. I had one acoustic before this, but can't remember any details. My first electric was a Peavey strat copy - I believe a Falcon, I did ask peavey once but I can't find the email anymore. It started out red, it's now black and purple and more or less my destroy / try stuff guitar. It's currently in a neck pickup blending style wiring. My first amp was a marshall 15w valvestate. Silverface Champ? nice

My first guitar was a white Fender mustang bass I was about 17. My amp was 100 watts of Marshall stack. I was the Bass player because I couldn't play guitar (or anything else for that matter) when we decided to "form a band"

Nice start RK - not so sure about the Ace Frehley bit though Vintage V100 Les Paul alike Tobacco Sunburst with gold hardware. It was brand new and was bought in honour of Mr Page and Mr Townshend who both played Les Pauls at certain very good points in their careers. My amp was a 10 Kustom with a gain channel and reverb / delay. The guitar is rarely played as I realised I am a single coil type of guy I think today the quality of entry point / beginner guitars is much better then it was years ago

I'm looking at it right now! It's a small, Spanish style/Classical guitar that says Melody Plus, Superb, ST/No. X41 (made in Japan). I got it when I was about six years old. I can only play it on the first five frets, the rest of the neck is pretty shot. I gave it to my son as a beater guitar, but he doesn't pick it up very often.

Gassman you and I must have had the same guitar, don't remember the brand. nylon strings only played open chords, don't remember what ever happened to it. But my secound guitar was my 62 Strat. Oh those were the day, Didn't realize what I had. my first amp was a Standel with 4 - 10 in speakers and 100 watts. that was the begining of my rock and roll.

Still got it, a S. Yairi acoustic I bought back in college in the mid 70's. Someday I'll give it to my grandson, but not yet!

I still have my first guitar. It was a Franciscan acoustic guitar my Dad bought for me for $100. Crappy guitar, but good memories.
