New heads? You mean the tuners? sry the pick-ups ( magnet bits where you strum) lol uber noob-ness ftw Why change the pickups I am no expert but you would need to swap the nut because it will be cut incorrectly but everything else should be OK - except things might get in the way of strumming - volume knobs etc

What's the problem w/ the stringing of the guitar? Maybe I can help? That violin sure looks cool. I should learn to play that beast. [famous last words] How hard could it be? [/famous last words] Maybe a sticky on set ups and restringing would be an idea - plus a guide on buying a new guitar for new starters Sorry Verb just noticed you are a Scot - Lesblues is Fife area

The impact on our wallet, well... I could be spending my money on worse stuff! Yep very true. Lesblues - the slower I seem to improve, the less I seem to care and somehow the better I seem to get and you are right it is all about having fun (or getting chicks if you are younger)

GAS having well and truly taken hold of me big time as we say in Manchester I decided my next purchase would probably be a USA strat or tele, however after trying them both I came to the conclusion that although they were a little bit better then the Classic Player Strat and Tele I already have they weren’t worth double the price. I thought about a Gibson SG or a Les Paul but not really my style. I looked at a Fender CS 60 NOS strat which I could afford but it had a rosewood fingerboard which for me is wrong on a sunburst strat! I then thought about a custom guitar and looked at few local luthiers but nothing really caught my fancy until I came across Rees Guitars in Cambridge and after having a chat with Clive Rees the owner of the company I came up with a spec for my customs as follows: Rees R2 Korina body Warmouth compound radius birds eye maple neck Maple scratch plate (no tone sapping plastic on my guitars said Clive - even the access plates to the electrics have to be wood!) Sperzel locking tuners Gotoh wrap around bridge Dark cherry red nitro cellulose finish Pick ups are SD P rail in the bridge SD quarter pounder sc in the middle SD jazz hb in the neck Controls are Volume push/pull bridge single coil P90 / humbucker Tone push / pull neck single coil / humbucker Rotary 3 way which switches between 5 way Parallel stratolike switching, 3 series way humbucker, and a Peter Green / Jimmy page out of phase setting. We decided not to use the single coil on the P rail as it was perceived to be weak. When Clive tried the pick up configuration he decided it was so good he would offer it as a standard “do it all power axe”! Anyway price for all this and a hardcase just over £1000 It should be here just before Christmas. I will post some pictures of the build when I get home www.rees-electric-guitars.com/
