Nice collection G Man.
Loving the colour of the tele - really nice ;D
I hanker after a sunburst tele but with a maple fingerboard - possibly a thinline

My relatively inexpensive but nice collection of guitars. Sorry for the awful quality of photos but guitars are hard to photo with crap light and a crap camera Next to come will be my Rees Custom shop and then a Thinline tele either a Fender or a G&L bluesboy or possibly a Reverend .......... Oh and a Resonater ;D Classic Player 50s bought new as B stock as the "first owner" didn't like it - it did need a fettle to get it spot on but it is my favourite guitar now -plays and sounds top (when my guitar teacher plays it ;D) Schecter PT (Pete Townshend Schectercaster) and Classic Player Baja Tele The set up on the PT was awful but I took it to this guy www.gedgreen.co.uk/ and he weaved his magic on it. It was a cheap guitar when I bought it but it is OK. If you are in the Manchester area I can recommend Ged Green for set ups and repairs. He turned my old Yamaha F310 from being unplayable after the 6th fret to awesome - so if you are just starting out don't underestimate the power of a good set up Vintage V100 Les Paul copy - UKs answer to Agile excellent quality and playability. Wilkinson hardware. Blackstar 5W ministack - very nice. Godin Summit - absolutely fantastic for the price, Seymour Duncans, coil tap, ebony finger board really, really nice and for less then £700 Indie IRK5 - the quality of this guitar is on a par with the Fenders but somehow it lacks character and my Vox AD30VT which I rarely use but I will keep as a back up - the Vox has bags of character Cort semi acoustic OK but needs a bit of TLC and a good set up maybe a lower bridge saddle Yamaha F310 Actually Mrs Miserable Jacks guitar but she never plays anymore - went to a bad teacher and just got frustrated.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think your post sums him up exactly how I feel about and this genre of super skilled guitar players. Sometimes raw emotion is far superior to text book skill
Although there is no doubt Steve Vai is a fantastic guitarist - but everything seems clinical and pretty soul less to me. I suppose as a big blues fan this sort of style is at opposite ends of the spectrum. I prefer my music to come from the heart not from a book
Would I like to be able to play like him?
I would rather bend and vibrato like BB

Well this where we are up to Two blocks of Korina glued together for the body - Korina is from a small tree so I am told The body is cut And shaped and routed for the pickups Routed for the controls with scratch plate With the maple scratch plate fitted This isn't my guitar but this will be the colour - note the access panel is korina not plastic! Real attention to detail. Colour was a real problem - when you can have anything you want it is hard to choose. Started at blue burst but as Korina is a yellowish wood it didn't really work so ended up with a dark cherry red. The neck unfinished More work on the neck The neck lacquered but not finished or polished but the birds eye maple looking nice More to follow when they come!

The nut is the bit at the top between the headstock and the fingerboard. It will be probably made from plastic and have 6 slots or grooves for the strings.
If you restring for left handed you would be trying to put the thick string into the the thin slot and a the bottom of the nut the thin string into the the thick slot
If you have look on Google there are some guides for restringing - I think there may be a youtube vid
