but its just a timing issue for me with that song i definately cant sing to my playing and change chords at the right part of the song as well lol Adding singing to the mix just makes things a lot harder, it can really mess with your timing, I make sure I've got the song down pat before I even try to sing along to it.

I recently got myself a freshman, after sitting in the shop for a few hours I choose it due to it's sound and the fact I could afford it ( just). www.freshmanguitars.co.uk/hires/apollo2ocb.htmit's sound easily matched some of the guitars twice its price ( at least in the semi-acoustic section )

hi all ive had an acoustic guitar for about a month now and i can play the intro's to a few easy songs but am finding strumming the rhythm of the songs quite difficult i think maybe im trying to strum quicker than i can change chords any advice to make it easier ? many thanks lee yeah I'd say start off slow, maybe try the following songs: Jesus doesn't want me for a sunbeam ( go for the nirvana acoustic cover, its dead easy) I need you - eurythmics knockin' on heavens door these all have slow simple strums and easy chords. It's easy to hear a song and think you can do it, often they are faster, or have more difficult chords or difficult strums. Stick to basic chords at first ( C,D,G,Em are the basis of most songs, add in E,A,Am and you have 90% of 90% of the songs out there ). these should the the chord that you get used to first, you'll find that you'll be able to hop between them quickly and easily in no time. Strumming feels like the easiest thing when you start off but its important to make sure you are strumming correctly, if you're sloppy you'll pick up bad habits that are hard to drop later on ( for instance hitting strings you're not supposed to), but once you have a few chords down you should be able to start concentrating on your strumming and rhythm a bit more. I've been playing for 4 years now ( though probably at the level of someone who's been playing for about a year with constant practice, and good tuition/lessons), and still find strumming to the correct timing/rhythm hard at times. If I could recommend a song by mojo I'd recommend these: pretty easy chords and the strum isn't too hard. Also you don't have to strum every song, try everybody hurts, or this song

(Verbosity, correct me if I'm reading this wrong) Nope thats pretty much what I was getting at, I think a lot of people are scared that we need to make massive sweeping changes, when the strongest effect often comes from the smallest changes. Yup thats the general idea, most of this save the planet stuff is more "lets keep it in some sort of state that humanity can still Live there" , though there is a chance that is we don't make some changes that we could end up actually killing our planet ( from what I've read each century with greenhouse emissions similar to the 20th century add a 10% chance or our planet ending up like venus or mars.) Yup the cows are a REALLY big factor, it's not just the methane they burp ( and fart ), but the additional land thats used for feed, and the damage they do to an awful lot of ecosystems that cannot cope with their presence. You would do more good by cutting down on steak and burgers than by moving over to a hybrid car. But I think there is a general problem with the way the 'eco' side of the discussion, far to often statements ( like the dogs one above) are made that at heart have a valid point, but simply end up disillusioning their intended targets. The main point of the dogs article should have been the unsustainable way that premium dog food is made.

thanks man, As an appendum, I took possesion of this guitar today, it's only on loan for 3 months, but I'm hoping my dad forgets to take it back when he gets back from india ( this isn't my pic, but the guitar is identical, thank you wikipedis)Its a 12-string EKO ranger XII I'm told it's rare and valuable, the sound is fantastic, though it makes picking some tunes a trifle harder than a 6-string ( worth it though )

I recently did a course in permaculture, and I'm currently working on my first couple of projects in this regards. One my first discoveries is that there is no 'right' answer in regards to climate change and the need to conserve biodiversity.
A classic example of this is the farm where I did the course, their major product was apples, which requires the grass around the trees to be cut, the most eco friendly solution? a petrol driven lawnmower!
The same applies to dogs ( and to an extent ourselves), Firstly we waste far too much food, and secondly we eat way to much meat. Simply put Dogs are scavengers, and would be happy to eat our scraps as the major part of their diet ( this is a simple fact - dogs domesticated themselves in this way ). It is not the dogs themselves, it's our obsession with keeping up with the jones' and feeding our dogs food thats socially acceptable.
Cars are another common target, ( I'm just going to get my licence ) one person in a car is not an environmental way to travel, yet a car full of people is one of the most environmental way to travel, combine that with using alternative ways to travel and no-one can rightly complain.
In the coming years you will hear a great many statements, and they will all be true, but their goal is not to make people stop driving or having dogs or eating meat , but to consider their actions and make wiser choices.
If I have to get on my soap box and bash anything it would be planes and lawns . Planes due to the gross fuel use ( though in fairness when peak oil hits this will be dealt with by simple economics). Lawns by simple fact that most houses with very little work couple grow a large amount of their food and actually have something beneficial rather than the resource consuming lawn, which serves no real practical purpose.
Sorry for the rant, Verbosity

AS mentioned in my guitar pics thread. I've got a westfield 'strat' type left handed guitar thats been sitting unused for a couple of years now ( I've tried giving it away to ppl who might use it, but no-one would take it ). I'll take some pics as and when I get the chance, to help describe my process and help with any questions I may have. goals: 1.remove/replace ( or just turn round) the nut 2. restring 3. assuming I get the guitar to work at that point I will look at replacing/ re-orientating the pickups I've replaced the nut on my old acoustic guitar, and that was just the case of using a stanley knife to free the sides of the nut from the neck and a pair of pliers to pull it free. I'd then turn it round and glue it back in place. I've had a look at it and it seems as though there should not be a problem with the shape of the nut itself, but I thought it best to at least ask someone who knows what they are doing first
