The Thread title says it all
Scuttle Buttin' by SRV damn it's fast
10 minute Guitar work out by Daivid Meade which I have just restarted
Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix
They are probably my main areas of work at the moment

Rock me Baby and the Thrill is Gone - BB King; Need your love so Bad - Peter Green and Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode. I've been trying to get up to speed with Johnny B Goode for about 2 years. Now it is fast. Only recently found out that the original recording was actually speeded up in production. Now they tell me!!

'Born on the Bayou' by CCR I want to learn 'Nuthin but a Woman' by Robert Cray - only problem (!) is that any tabs I can find aren't how Robert Cray plays in on the videos and I can't yet work out what he's doing in the main riff but Mrs Wully goes back to work on Tuesday so me and the cat will have time and peace to work on it then.

'Ghost Riders in the Sky'. I learned the instrumental part years ago, and then I forgot it, and then I re-learned it again. The other night, I re-learned it in a different key that would go better with the chord progressions I found on-line. I'm working on putting it all together now. Nothing fancy- more at the campfire, acoustic, strumming style (I'd say 'sing-along style', but I can't sing worth a lick, so I'm trying to make it more so the guitar can convey the song, if you know what I mean!).

I think its probably less hard than it seems, but it's so frustrating not being able to play these things when so many other chords now seem easy. So you just end up not practicing in favour of doing a few songs with chords you can already do.

You need to find some songs which are mainly barre chords and work on those for a while - something that you don't have to change to open chords to much Pinball Wizard is good for that you have some sus4 barre chords moving up the neck, some A shape and some E shape barres - you only have to use a couple of open chords D, C and G - however the strumming is a bugger ;D ;D

I know I know Even easier open G tuning and some Rolling Stones comes your way. Will build up strength in your index finger and get you moving around the neck

I am getting somewhere with the E Shape barre chords but still needs a lot of practice. Im trying it on acoustic first as it will build up my hand strength.
Ive been playing for just over a year and only recently decided that I NEED to learn these as there is no point avoiding the hard/frustrating parts.
verbosity - Are you using a lesson to learn Whiskey in the Jar, if so what one?
There is one that is on davejonesguitar.co.uk but never attempted it, if that is of any help.
