I am getting somewhere with the E Shape barre chords but still needs a lot of practice. Im trying it on acoustic first as it will build up my hand strength. Ive been playing for just over a year and only recently decided that I NEED to learn these as there is no point avoiding the hard/frustrating parts. verbosity - Are you using a lesson to learn Whiskey in the Jar, if so what one? There is one that is on davejonesguitar.co.uk but never attempted it, if that is of any help. Hey good find Kev - mission Impossible being played right now!

I am learning to play Wicked Little Town from the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It is a lovely little song, but I doubt it is the shared taste of anyone here.

There are some cracking songs on there and fairly simple to play. I particularly like the way he explains the strumming pattern and keeps it simple. A great site thanks for sharing it.

I'm afraid I never quite made famous but I did get to do some cool stuff back in the eighties, opening for some fairly popular acts. And I got to meet some pretty cool people and a few wiener heads too. This CD is the first for this band, Its a Christian Country Blues Alt. Rock kind of a thing. Pretty different for me but I'm having a blast doing it. We are based out of Dallas Texas. We should be finished in about six weeks or so. I'd love to send you a copy when we are done if you are interested. Nosy So and So that I am

It certainly seems to get mentioned a lot in forums and on Harmony Central reviews - lot's of guys mentioning how they play mostly worship music (I assume they mean Christian worship ;D) You don't hear so much about it in the UK, in fact I can't think of any UK bands that were specifically Christian. Unless of course you count Cliff Richard

Yes, in the obvious circles it is quite popular, but most of the players aren't reaching the mainstream of music yet. As per styles it covers the spectrum from country to pop to cookie monster metal. There are a few pretty good players that are starting to show up. Lincoln Brewster comes to mind. There is a definite line between what is considered worship music and Christian rock or Christian music (ie. for listening...hard to put that in words) but the outcome I think is supposed to be the same. PM me your address and I will send you the CD once it is finished. It will be cool for me to know that I finally reached across the pond, haha. I hope you will like it. It is definitely Texas roots music, with blues, country, rock influences.

Just started "Sultans of Swing"
Learning it from a bit of Three Chord Guitar lesson (thanks Mojo) a bit of Guitar Pro and alot of ear.
Not brilliant at finger picking but gotta try
No way can you get the right sound with a pick - so not worth trying!

I am tinkering with the Jace Everett song Bad Things, but there is only so much you can with with a single guitar. Good song though.

I use 2 barre chords the most, E type and the A type. The E type is the most challenging but used the most. For the A type I bar across with my index finger and use my last joint of the ring finger on the D-G-B strings. I am presently learning the song were are not to play, Stairway to Heaven. MoJo has a great presentation of the song, and it isn't too bad, his transitions are very good. Good Job. Phil

These days I'm mainly trying to convince my brain to let me move my fingers independently from the bass playing thumb (e.g.: Richland Woman Blues - Mississipi John Hurt)
general exercise in speed and dexterity: shoving Mojo's lesson in So What - Miles Davis all over the fretboard.
and some working on improvisation, based on 1 1/2 songs by Kings of Convenience.
