Cool tune HJ, I might have to look at that one myself.
I found a copy of Fretboard Logic. Interesting approach.

with alot of hard work and practice I'm getting somewhere with my trying to get my thumb to play the bass line and my fingers to play the melody. Have a long way to go but what a thrill to finally see some improvement. Son House would be proud(yeah right).

Edged in Blue - Rory Gallagher - intro and chords for now though - that will be hard enough for now!

I avoid Barre chords also. I have no thumb on the left hand, the one I fret with so it is even harder along with small hands. Okay so I stopped whining. But I try and practice them every so often because there are 2 of them in You and Me by Lifehouse and I really want to learn that song.
So that is one song I am working on, and the other is Ray Lamontagne's Trouble and poking around a few others. I have been playing/learning for almost 3 months.

I'm working on a solo in the key of E, playing it between frets seven and ten, using pentatonic scale 'box' 4. I got the idea from the intro. to 'Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)'. I like doing stuff like this, experimenting on my own, rather than trying to copy something note-for-note.

I seem to be flitting between a few songs at the moment, so not really learning any of them properly.
Hey Joe Albatross Roadrunner Rock me baby Need your Love so bad Whiskey in the Jar Black Magic Woman
To name but a few.
Gasman, how are you getting on with Learn and Master guitar? I have it too but find it very difficult to use as he seems to insist that you learn to read music rather than tabs. Very commendable I'm sure but I would much rather learn to play some tunes instead of learning to read music. What are your thoughts?

Oh yes, also revisiting "All right now" and this time including the solo. Doesn't sound too bad, not good enough to post on here yet but a big improvement on my earlier attempts imho :-)
Also discovered that my Boss SD-1 and my sheraton used in conjunction with my Verbzilla sound great for some 70's Rock.

I love my SD1 with humbuckers too. Sounds just right to me with the gain at about 9 o'clock. I picked up a Sparkle Drive yesterday to go with the Tele. Can't wait for those pups to come in so I can finish it. Sooo....What am I working on today? Patience......!@@#$%%^^&&^% Patience. THATS what I'm working on.........needs more work.

Very commendable I'm sure but I would much rather learn to play some tunes instead of learning to read music. What are your thoughts? I don't have Learn and Master guitar Les, but I know what you mean. I have an old Mel Bay book where he teaches with music notation instead of tab. If you are not used to reading music, it can be difficult. Personally, I was exposed to notation before tab, so I find I can manage with notation probably the same as with tab. If you are going to have to use notation, I think the key is to learn where the notes are on the fretboard. When I took a music theory class in college, I made a fretboard chart with all of the notes on it. I still use it to this day, and it is over 25 years old!

Sorry GMan, I thought I read in of your posts that you had Learn and Master Guitar. I hear what you say about the Fretboard chart. Sounds like a good idea. Anything that helps me use Learn and Master would be good, it was a lot of cash just to have it sit in a cupboard.
