The words in this song mean a lot to me. I try to live my life as simply as possible and be a good person. I was also an only child, and my mother would always try to give me good advice, just like the song starts out saying.

Both amps are a bit OTT for home playing The Peavey gets mixed reviews but is really a gigging amp I think it is a transtube - pretend valve. Never played a Peavey that I really liked but that is just opinion Never played a Kustom KG210FX but have played a Kustom KG10FX - didn't think it was anything special As neither are valve amps and I am a valve amp man personally I wouldn't be interested in either - but that is just personal opinion The Peavey will be pretty loud and the Kustom will be a bit louder than your 5 watt valve amp - why not get a 2 x 12 cab for your 5 watt valve amp? Thanks for the response, HJ! The cab idea is good. I hadn't thought of that! Anyway, I'm just playing around with the amp ideas, until something better pops up on Craigslist. But I do like the cab idea!

Since everyone is talking about amps here as of late, I throw this one out to you guys to see what you think: I'm thinking of getting myself a music-related Father's Day/Birthday gift this month, but I can't spend too much at the moment. I've been looking through my local Craigslist and have come up with two possible options.
1. An older Peavey Express 112 amp. I think it is U.S.A. made and 65 watts.
2. An almost new Kustom KG210FX 20 watt amp.
Does anyone have any experience with this Peavey model or with Kustom amps in general? BTW, I'm leaning towards the Peavey amp, if it is still available by the time I decide to pull the trigger. I already have two 5-watt amps (one tube, one digital), so I don't know if I should even be considering this!

Wow, you have to pursue this. What an opportunity.............for the harp player I mean, to have the chance to play with a Blues guitarist. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D...too funny! - "Blues guitarist is a S T R E T C H (to say the least)!

"Glad to hear you are not throwing in the towel Gman. It is always good to know you can pick your guitar up whenever the mood takes you." Thanks, Les! I've just been too busy lately and guitar has dropped on the priority list. ...My brother in law has been a pro blues harp player for 40 years and I have learned more music trading 4's with him than I could in a year of formal lessons. Now that I've been working as a substitute teacher, I met a teacher that just happens to live in my old home town. I had never met him before, as he moved to my old village just two years before I left. Anyway, we got to talking and I found out he is a pro blues harp player as well. He is somewhat older than me, and he was saying that at one time, he played with Lightnin' Hopkins! We just talked briefly, but I'd like to hear more! School's about to end, so I probably won't talk to him until August again, but I wouldn't mind hearing him play, and maybe (if he lets me), play along with him (There aren't many Blues players around here, so maybe he'll welcome someone who is into the Blues to accompany him!).

I'm a big fan of these two, and this sort of setting seems like the ideal way to wind down and relax (even though I don't drink or smoke). PLUS, it's a great song!

My intent was never to play live. It was only to learn and play for my own enjoyment, as a way to relax. As it is now, I'm beginnig to think playing guitar was just a passing phase for me. I am not taking it as seriously as I should and not playing that much. I am not throwing in the towel and getting rid of any of my instruments, as there is always hope and 'tomorrow'. As for the 'girlfriend' as an audience, that won't work either for me - don't have one!

My favorite songs to play are 'Mary Jane's Last Dance' by Tom Petty; 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' by Johnny Cash; and 'Sharp Dressed Man' by ZZ Top. Which one is the one that I play best? Are you kidding? None of them , but if I were to choose one, I guess it would be 'Sharp Dressed Man'. Only because I know how to play the first solo in addition to the riffs, and I improvised and came up with my own last solo because of time constraints with my backing track.
