It still has its Christmas bow Vox Ac4tvh and cabinet with a 12" Celestion custom speaker. The Amp has a built in attenuator which means I can go from 4watts to either 1 or 1/4 watt. It sounds amazing, producing a lovely crunch at low volumes (although not necessarily low enough for the rest of the household!) and it can be very loud. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. It also looks pretty cool imho.

Thanks Guys. It is brilliant. It's funny how a new toy encourages more playing

That's a sharp-looking amp! Congratulations! I almost got one when I was looking for a small tube amp, but I got a Fender Champ 600 instead (more within my budget at the time!).

Just a quick update on my new toy. Naturally I have been spending some time messing around with it over the holiday and I am so pleased with it. The sound is exactly what I was looking for. I would describe it as vintage British. Probably because that was what Vox were attempting to emulate ;D In my opinion they got it right. It blows away my AD15VT. Of course I'm not sure that it is fair to compare a valve amp, even a small one, with a solid state amp. There are no built in effects on the valve amp. In fact there are very few controls on it at all but it doesn't really need much. The natural sound from it is great. It can go from very clean to very distorted and a lot in between. I am sure there are other, much more expensive amps out there which will be much better. I was looking for a small valve amp to use at home (not much chance that I'll ever play anywhere else, at least not twice ) and the built in attenuator was a deal maker for me. I've also used some pedals through it and found them to be much quieter than when I used them with the solid state amp, less buzzing. One thing I did notice was that when I used the Equalizer along with say my overdrive/distortion or my compressor the volume decreased. If anyone can explain why that should be I'd appreciate it. Anyway I feel very lucky to have chosen this wee amp. I love it!

No, no effects loop, probably just as well as I don't know how to use one I know what you mean about highlighting mistakes. But if I don't make mistakes I'm never going to learn. Having said that I've just realised that with the amount of mistakes I make I really should be expert by now. It must be time to buy another guitar to compensate for my inadequacies ;D

You need a nice stratocaster - very easy to play strats ;D
What order are your effects in?

Oh there is a sarcastic comment just bursting to get out. Lucky I am so disciplined.
The order of my effects is what you might call dynamic, sometimes, when I'm feeling technical it doesn't just depend on what order I bring them out of the box ;D
I have read bits and pieces about what order they should be in but nothing definitive. I try them in various positions to see which causes the least buzzing.
At the moment it's guitar-compressor/sustainer-graphic equaliser-Blues Driver-Amp.

OK I know this is a really stupid question - but have you tried turning up the level of your equaliser?
There is usually a master volume control

You do realise that even if I had been stupid enough not to check the volume pedal I would not be admitting to it on a public forum, if at all However needless to say............... It wasn't the volume control. No what seems to happen is that everything is working at the volume I set with or without the other pedals switched on and then I switch on the equaliser and there is definitely a drop in overall volume. It's not a huge problem I'm just curious as to why it is so.
