Hi everyone! It's been two weeks since I said I would try to get a sound clip up of my new guitar. I'm sorry for the delay, but I've been preoccupied with other stuff. I applied for a job as a substitute teacher (lots of paperwork nowadays). I got my substitute teaching license yesterday from the state. On top of that, my son had spring break last week, and it's pretty hard to record with a six-year old running around all over the place!
Well, before making the clips, I compared the new guitar to my Tradition Tele and to my Ibanez Jet King II. The Tradition does have more of the traditional "Tele twang", but I think the new guitar's neck pickup sounds better than the Tradition's neck pickup. I compared my new guitar with the Jet King because the Jet King has coil splitting capabilities on both humbuckers, so I thought it would be fun comparing it to the new guitar's HSS configuration. I've always thought that my Jet King has the hottest bridge pickup out of all my guitars, and this still holds true. My Jet King is my only guitar that has an uncovered humbucker (except for the Squier HSS I bought for my son), so I guess that counts for some of the hotter sound. The new guitar and the Jet King sound very similar when using the neck and middle pickup on the new guitar and the middle position on the Jet King with both pickups split. Here's a photo I took when I was comparing guitars:
Now, on to the sound clip! I used Audacity to record. I used my Fender Champ 600 and mic-ed it up, with the microphone going directly into my computer (using a Radio Shack vocal microphone).
It's only a 1:20 clip of the same chord progression using the five different pickup positions: neck, neck-middle, middle, middle-bridge, and, lastly, bridge. Please forgive me for the long post and for my rough playing (I haven't practiced for a while). ;D
