how do you guys record yourselves? i don't mean video, just so you can play your practices back to hear how you REALLY sound.would like to be able to hear it so i can improve on my technique, timing, or whatever i think needs improvement? Preferably something low cost that would do the trick. Thanks guys.

Hi, I posted some vids of myself playing my guitar. I used the video facility on my digital camera. Then I used Windows Movie Maker to edit and create the finished video. Now I know you just want to record sound. What I didn't know at the time was that you can seperate out the video from the sound in Moviemaker so you can just create a sound file and use that if you have a digital camera. (wish i'd known before I posted my vids :-) ) An other way is if your amp has a line out/headphones out, then you can connect that to your pc and use a free program like audacity to create the sound file. I tried using an ordinary pc mic in front of my amp but the result was terrible which is why I used my camera. I started another thread in this section "thinking about a mixing desk" where I sought advice on the best way to record onto pc. You might want to take a look there. Or you could check out this website www.musiconmypc.co.uk/art_computers_music.phpLes
