I would repent and will repent but I don't believe in sharing my problems with other people - so you ain't getting Jack ;D As Mrs Jack said to Lesblues on Sunday "he could spend his morning on worse things like wild women, whiskey, drugs and gambling" but I don't do that sort of thing any more Everyone needs a Telecaster - these G&Ls are very versatile. Roll of the pick volume and roll up the treble and you have a proper tele twang, roll the volume up and the treble down and you are almost in P90 territory. You could probably get a second hand USA built one over the pond - rare as hens teeth in the UK (although one came up on Ebay the day I ordered mine) If it had the 5 way pick up selection and S1 switching of the Fender Baja it would be a double stunner . So you are quite pleased with it then? It's bloody lovely mate and if I were you I would have a play on the Stratocaster version - The Legacy I think it is. You would like it because the pick ups aren't as harsh and thin as a strat. The MFD single coils are hotter bit more like a P90. You will still get a Strat type sound but with big hairy bollocks - that is if it is like the Telecaster

C'est la vie. I am of course still browsing Gumtree, Music radar and Ebay as a matter of course. Just in case someone is selling an original 1960 stratocaster for pennies. In which case I would of course buy it and if I didn't like it sell it on for a huge profit. Whoa must have been dreaming, just woke up, what was I saying? something about buying a Strat. Must have been a nightmare. ;D

You need to see a doctor fast, my friend, and not the Happy Jack variety either! He'll just get you into more trouble! ;D P.S. After reading your 'mixing desk' thread and this one, I'm glad I'm broke!

Come on Les, pull the trigger man. You NEED a Strat. Life is incomplete without one brother. Of course a 60 for pennies might stretch reality a bit but hey, stranger things have happened. Maybe you should take to following old widow women about town. You never know if possibly the departed hubby could have been a player in his younger days and she doesn't know what the old boy's axe is worth. On second thought I'm ashamed of myself for thinking of it. Jack, I really love the G&L. Congrats on the great find. They have a great reputation for quality over here and are fairly common. A friend of mine plays the most god awful looking chrome silver metal flake ASAT with a B bender installed. It sounds awesome. I must say, you description of the ability to get close to a p90 with the classic is quite seductive. I'll be looking around for one to check out.

I did a load of research on line plus had help from Phil on here to make sure that I was able to buy the right piece of kit for the job without breaking the bank. I also had to sacrifice the professional set up I had planned for my Hohner at least until my next birthday! I nearly spent 3 times the actual amount on uneccessary items which would have been overkill for what I want to do. Just goes to show the value of a forum like this where you can pick the brain of more experienced folk. Thanks again Phil. P.S. Doctor Happy Jack, the mind boggles!!

We have a website here in the UK called Gumtree similar to Craigs list. Last year an ad appeared for a 1970's USA Strat being sold for £100!! The guitar belonged to the husband and was being advertised by the jilted wife. I saw it almost as soon as it was advertised and in the short time (very short time) it took me to explain to Lady Ann how good a deal it was the ad had been withdrawn. I can only assume the ex hubby saw it and flipped. Or maybe it brought them back together as a happy couple, probably not. Anyway I have a reputation to keep as someone who doesn't like Strats. But you never know............

Roadking for pitys sake don't encourage him to do that - he got in enough trouble last time following ladies about the streets of Edinburgh - we don't want him back in the hotel with bars on the windows and the funny jackets that button up at the back again
Bend over Leslie you won't feel a thing................ I could be a Doctor of GAS or Doctor Jimmy offa Quadraphenia only coming out after drinking my Gin
