haha thanks Les, yeah I'm a happy camper and thats straight into amp, so think I can probably drop my OD pedal on this one. Does mean I'll have to work out my settings again tho so if I change guitars I still get some volume heh. just need to play better now lol

Go the dire straits carpet on the walls tactic there's usually stuff you can do to get 'good enough' quality. in some ways we got better recording quality out of what I was doing in the garage for our band with 2 mics (when I got the positioning right) than what we got out of the studio. It was a less processed result, ok noisy and echo-y, but it had its merits. Most of my stuff on here has been DI into my boss box, or mic'd amp and mic'd me.

I've got it on the plan for tonight. I carpool and the other guy has to stay late so I brought the camera, g-dec junior and guitar in for some more pics and some sounds tonight. The g-dec won't do it as much justice as my Mesa does but it's easier to get around EDIT: Ok so maybe I took some pictures when I should be working couldn't resist. Warning, this could be regarded as mature content. Better shot of her body And a looker from the back too From the top everything is where you'd expect it to be. Her tuners are nice tho the high E 9 still likes to play hard to get when stringing And a nice light coloured maple neck to connect the two. Her frets are slightly more pronounced than I'm used to, but it's a good change. There's a rule that if it exists there's porn of it, there's also a rule that a man can make any sentence sound dirty.

Being a Gemini I'm always in two minds about things, but this takes the cake lol it'a a really nice guitar and I'm enjoying it - very inspirational tones. My only reason to complain is like what Mojo said it's a custom guitar and not 100% what I ordered. So I'm kicking up a small fuss.
I've just dropped the strings to 9's and backed off the springs to lift the vibrato bridge off the body again - nice and easy tho had to fight myself to do it. Dude this is a professionally setup guitar and you're going to mess with it kinda thing. Tone very unaffected (phew!) I was going to post some video since nobody home to interrupt, but I have a rare soccer game (out of town team playing up here) to go to lol so I'll be back later with some clips.

Ok well had a good play when I got home. I'll do some recording tomorrow morning if I get some quiet pulling the push/pull knob (brings in the bridge pickup if you're on neck) and gives a punchy Tele like tone. On my amps clean channel I found some riviera paradise cleans. On the blues channel I got from right on breakup to some pretty nice distortion just plugged direct into the amp and fiddling with the volume knob. Sustain's fantastic to the point where I have to be much more careful about my muting. So I'm happy anyway, just waiting on a response from PGS, see what they'll offer me

Well I get the feeling it's the order from PGS that's gone arwy rather than at G&L's end. I'm sure I can find a nice FX box they can send me in compensation Don't think I'll be able to resist giving the guitar a little noodle over my lunchbreak. Trouble is an S-500 Deluxe (assuming I like the sound - haven't played many maple tops) is a more expensive guitar so again it's hard to complain given the fact I am winning on price pretty well. The reason for the ash body was sound not looks so we'll see Aside from the body difference the deluxe also gets a bone nut. The extra wide c neck feels good on first impressions, tho I won't really know till I hack into something. More news later hehe

You're making me break my promise Les ok it's being held at customs. I suspect they've held it cos they want me to pay GST (VAT or sales tax for you foreigners) on it before they're let it go. I'm going to chase them up again today. I kind of expected this was a possibility so hopefully next few days...... EDIT: just paid it, far less than I expected it to be (I paid in 2 half payments and I think they've only charged me based on one of them). Should be released today and to me tomorrow

I know I post this repeatedly but it's funny! and yes the I-V-vi-IV progression is very common in pop songs. You're in G (G, D, Em, C), I believe Axis of Awesome usually play this in E (E, B, C#m, A) tho most of the songs in this are shifted from their original keys, and some are simplified. That said you can play almost every blues song with one less chord, I-IV-V or E, A and B.
