I have wanted an additional sound for my recording so I got this little guy. After much looking and bidding on E=bay and disappointments I finally settled for the all solid wood Savannah SF 200. It is China Clone of the Loar 600 made by the Loar Corp. The fit and finish is better than you would expect for a $315 Mandolin. The surface areas are nicely done but the nooks and crannies are lacking. The tone is quite good Not much room for my fat fingers. And, I had forgot how your hand can cramp up when you put them in positions they don't like. Just started learning some sime 2-3 finger chord and some scales. I have a lot to learn. Wish me luck

Beautiful! Congrats! All of this mandolin talk here recently is really tempting me to buy a Kentucky mandolin that was on CL at the same time I bought my Tele. I'm also interested in Mojo's Ovation iDea guitar, though! So much GAS, so little money!
EDIT: Oh yeah, I wish you luck in mastering that baby!

It's an interesting beast, but I'm starting to get the hang of things so long as you don't listen too closely heh mandolin cafe that was mentioned before in another thread is a great resource. Plus it's keeping my fingers toned during my holiday
