The hunt is over and I ended up with a guitar I didn't expect. I was considering an Ovation and I did end up with one. Went to a music store in a town I usually don't go to. They had and Ovation Elite 2078 T the the deep contour back and the OP-Pro series electronics. It has a maple neck and is one of the last USA models to be made. I paid just $488 for this demonstrator model. Retail is $1600 sold for the $800.00 range. And yes it is all black. Not my first choice in looks for a guitar but it sounds great. It is growing on me very quickly. Right now the set up is too low and the high B and E can buzz a little. Easy fix. The new contour back is very comfortable to. Doesn't roll off like the round backs did. For the money I just couldn't pass it up. Once I get the neck in shape I send you guys a full review with sound.

Very nice Phil. Now, what guitar related gear are you going to buy with the money you saved? :-)

I usually don't care much for Ibanez acoustic guitars either. BTW, I have the same Ovation - though mine is Burgundy color. It's probably the one I use the most at home. I gigged with it as well and always received great comments from both the crowd and the soundman. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine
