Hi Guys
As some of you may have read I have joined the pedal/effects addict club and with a pedal board being built at the moment I am wondering what order is best to have my pedals. The pedals I have are;
Digital Delay/Reverb Wah Wah Tremelo Chorus Overdrive TC Tuner Acoustic Modeller (To be ordered) Compressor (To Be Ordered)
Also, how do you determine the order the pedals go on as I dont want to ask every time I add to the collection which looks like it could be a monthly thing haha
Thanks
Guys

There is a wealth of articles on the net about this topic but there isn't any rights or wrongs really.
It is about how it sounds to you and how effects in the pedal chain affect other pedals in the chain
You are best listening to what RK and other people say - trying it and then changing it about.
You also need to experiment with effects in the effects loop in your Blackstar HT5. Some say the time / modulation based (delay, reverb, chorus etc) effects are better in the loop and things like Wah, compressor, overdrive should go straight in from the the guitar
Have fun!

That loop grouping and order is my general take on things. But as HJ says there are no set in stone rules but there is reasoning behind it all. I go against the generally accepted reasoning in one place on my chain. Experiment but be sure to have fun.

I go against the generally accepted reasoning in one place on my chain. Experiment but be sure to have fun. I originally had all my time based effects and modulation in the amps effects loop along with the seven band eq. I found the eq didn't work as well as a booster in the effects loop and to be honest when I put the effects drectly from guitar to amp I didn't notice any difference really (except it easy to change amps) As we discussed before against the general rule my Double Muff doesn't work well with a compressor in front of yet my other OD pedals do (I did read somewhere on the EHX forum I think) that Double Muffs work better as the very first pedal in the chain. Obviously it was someones opinion but I must admit I tend to agree. As we have said there isn't a right or wrong way but there are good reasons to put effects in a certain order - there are also good reasons to change that order if it gives you the sound you want. I love pedals I do!

When it comes down to it, you'll want to spend some time experimenting with the proper order for you. There are general guidelines to follow, but no hard and fast rules.
