New guy here. Played bass for many years and a little rhythm guitar. Trying to help a young guitarist create a solo for a simple three chord blues song. Question: If the song is in the key of B, do you switch scales from B to E when the songs chords switch? Or do you stay in the B pentatonic scale throughout the solo?

Good question. That answer is... You don't HAVE to, and you probably shouldn't unless you really know what you're doing. So in short, since you're asking the question and he doesn't know, I wouldn't change the scale at all.
It sounds like you're talking about a I IV V in the key of B, so B penta should be fine all the way.

I agree with lessonsthatrock (and welcome to you both). A lot of the country guys change keys over chord changes but for us rock and blues guys that just weird. ;D ;D ;D
