I got a new practice amp yesterday! It is a Vox DA5. It's a cute little bugger with a lot of features packed into it. I had been looking for a practice amp with certain features for a while. I basically needed my amp to have an earphone jack, and if possible, and AUX input. Well, this little amp has all that and a lot more. It has 11 amp models and 11 effects (some are multiple effects). The amp tones come from Vox's VT series of amps. I compared it yesterday to my Fender Champ 600, and it compliments my Champ very nicely. Both amps are about the same size, and they sound great together! The Vox is a digital amp, but it sounds better than the SS amp I previously owned. I can get the Vox to sound almost like my Champ. It has a very nice tube-like sound to it! The Vox also has a MIC input with separate volume control AND it can run on batteries! I got a great deal on this amp from a member of another forum I belong to. The amp is brand new, complete with manual and unfilled registration card! I had seen a DA5 on my local Craigslist, but the owner was out of the area for a while, so I couldn't buy it. As luck would have it, I found the amp I bought being advertised in another forum for less than the one on Craigslist, so I went for it! I'm sure glad I did, because it is a great amp! Here is a little family picture of my two little amps with the two guitars I used to compare them (my favorites, BTW):

Good to see pics of your amps and guitars. As you know I don't think you can go wrong with Vox, they Rock. (hey that sounds quite catchy. Might sell it to Vox for their new ad campaign ) Have fun with it.

Always glad to see that someone's GAS is being relieved. Congrats. I read an interview with John Jorgenson not too long ago where he stated that he records with those babies periodically.

Thank you guys! I agree with Les: You can't go wrong with a Vox. From now on, my choices for amps will be Fender and Vox.

I have not played a Vox amp since the 60's, I'll have to give them a try, I am looking for a small recording amp. You need to record that guy and let us all hear. Congrats!!!!

I haven't tried recording with it yet, but I will one of these days. I spent part of the day yesterday playing with it some more. Figuring out more settings for different songs. I also hooked up my mp3 player to it and played along with a backing track. I love this little amp...it rocks ;D!

I played around with the Vox this week end and of the 5 amps I messed with this little one was my favorite. The tones were full and clear and the tube sound was unmistakable. It is at the top of my list for now for my recording amp, still have a few more to check out.

After looking at the pictures I was play the next size up of vox. Sorry for the confusion, must be the beer I became a fan of the Vox sound when I got my AmPlug (AC30 version) headphone amp a while back. You probably tried one of the Vox Valvetronix series amps. They are great sounding amps, that's for sure!

I was looking at the Champ in the picture. You would think a Fender guy would know better. The one I was playing was the: Vox AC4TV 4W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp. The sound from this little fellow was just great. Kind of like the old school look. The only trouble is I would need a few pedals to go with it since I leave my Pod X3 Live at the church. I'll keep looking for now but this one is at the top of my list for now and the price is very good. 1/2 price of the blues junior Fender.

I have the seperate head and cabinet version which has a 12" speaker. I think it is brilliant. The tone is pure British vintage and it loves my pedals. In fact I could probably get away with just using my reverb pedal alone with it. I just think it is that good. imho of course

I meant to say Phil, you can also buy a combo version which has the 12" speaker too.
