Pretty basic really.
What are you playing and how did you arrive at that choice? What's it give you - sound wise?
I find it interesting to lean how other people find what works for them. It's often led me to new and interesting things, I'd not thought of otherwise.
(plus with a partscaster build looming - I need some ideas ;D )

Sorry, I can't help you on this one. All of my guitars have stock pickups and I'm satisfied with them. I don't mod (I'm very mechanically challenged - I tell people I am an example of a walking Murphy's Law ;D!).

Since we are talking about Teli's the list is still long and based on personal taste. The most popular pickups after market are Seymour Dunkan, excellent choice and middle of the price range $150 for a set. Next is Dimarzio, a little less money but still very good $120. The best rated is Joe Bartons, overall considered the best teli pickup sold and at $300 for a set they should be. I have always liked Lace Sensor in guitars too. I do like the Fender Noiseless pickups. So which one am I putting in my teli? Torres Industries. This is a branch off Old Leo Fender. They are rated at the top of pickups and have mid tone adjustment. I ordered the pre-wired set up for my new teli. At $200 still pricey. I can hardly waite to try them out. The standard pickups for the low end teli's are not great , pretty thin sounding, so don't go too cheep.

I've been kicking around the idea of the Fralin Blues Specials (set), or the Seymour STL-1/STR-1 Vintage '54.

You could not go wrong with either set.

SD P rail in the bridge SD quarter pounder sc in the middle SD jazz hb in the neck
That's what I put in my custom - not a tele though
The controls allow the P Rail to split to P90 and Humbucker, the Jazz can split to single coils.
Controls set up as
Volume push/pull bridge single coil P90 / humbucker Tone push / pull neck single coil / humbucker Rotary 3 way which switches between 5 way Parallel stratolike switching, 3 way series humbucker, and a Peter Green / Jimmy page out of phase setting.
Makes a very versatile guitar

Not from the UK but had a Strat with the Mother's Milk set in it. They were absolutely awesome. Never heard anything else but them.

For you UK guys - ever played with any pick ups from Bare Knuckle? Never used them but most of the reports I have heard have been very positive - I think there is a bare knuckle forum

I ordered both a body from Warmoth and a set of Fralin Blues Specials. I feel like I'm 10 and Christmas is tomorrow...
