Title says it all. One of the tuning pegs broke loose recently. Which should be easily covered by warranty, but since I'm not particulary keen on these kind of flimsy Gibson style machine heads (you know, these, in that funky glow-in-the-dark green), I'd like to replace them completely more sooner than later - And now I'm wondering how much of a problem this will pose, thinking of the diameters of the holes in the headstock and such...

There are all kinds of tuners out there and they are pretty easy to replace or upgrade. It is the best to replace it with a tuner of the same size. Using one that is the same style keeps you from drilling screw holes. I really like the locking tuners. Ebay will have many many Gibson replacement tuners.
