It seems ,I may be one of the few people here without a tele. I have Strats, Ibanezes, Semi hollow bodies, and accustics. I don't have much knowlege about Tele's. So I need a Tele and then a Les Paul just to round me out. Tele me what you guys like about your Telis and which one is best. My music is classic rock and contemporary Christian. Phil

ditto on the Baja, love my baja, for the extra 60/70 quid the baja is much better than a standard mexican.

I think the best one to convince you to buy a Tele would be Mojo himself. I'm not the best one to convince you because I am not convinced myself! Like you, I did not have a Les Paul or a Tele until the latter part of last year. I bought them both to round out my collection, and because I am always curious what other guitars will sound like. I have to say that to me, both the Les Paul and the Tele represent the two extremes in guitar tone. I can't say that either the Les Paul or the Tele are my favorites, because I like a more middle-of-the road tone. I am still getting used to both guitars. Right now, my favorite guitars are my Epi Dot and my Ibanez Jet King II. My Harmony Strat comes in after those two and then the Les Paul and Tele (both tied for last because of their extreme tones). I don't dislike them, and I enjoy playing them, but they are not my favorites. My advice is to try a Tele (and a Les Paul, for that matter), and then decide. Don't buy one just because everybody else praises them, because all tastes in tone are different. Just my two cents.

I was lusting after a Les Paul but playing both back-to-back ( and I am a new, poor player) the Tele just felt so much more comfortable and natural in my hands- the neck of my US tele just fits. I thought it would sound 'thin' due to the pick ups but it sounds just fine to my ear and the more I play it the more I like it.
It still makes me feel good every time I pick it up.
But the thing is I'm sure I'd feel the same no matter what guitar I'd decided I liked most...

I have not seen a teli that really rang my bell some I am going to build one. I bought the body to day. It is a mighty mite body. I'll post pictures as I go along. I am looking at a Wormoth neck.

Good choice I've got a Warmoth compound radius neck on my Custom and it is super neck, very comfortable to play

Really looking forward to following your project on the forum. I hope you do post lots of pics and narrative each step of the way. Have you built a guitar before?

I have torn down, repaired and modified guitars for years but never built one. So I am excited to to pick everything and assemble one. When the body comes I will post the pictures.. It is flame maple . My next step is the neck selection, Warmoth will be my first choice but I don't think I want the standard teli head.
