Darn it guys, Am I reading Hebrew here? Huber's, Korina everything, Gibson scale Haussel P90, tapped (push/pull tone knob) Hardshell case fat neck's Riff's Hammer on's /off's What language is this? Talk english guys. I'm a beginner. 56 yrs young. So this, learn guitar, is one of my list things to do when I reach fifty,. and I'm even 6 years late attempting this list. But I gotta laugh at this Mojo guy. He keeps saying he'll never be a great guitarist! Damn boy, if I could play half as good as you I'd die a happy man. Keep the videos coming, I'm still struggling with some chords especially the C chord, but I guess I'll get there, if only my hands where a bit more flexible. Any tips for getting the finger tips really hard and keeping them that way.? Maybe some one, some day will expalin a lot of this guitar terminolgy. Like one of those "Dummies" series book's. I live in hope. But really all I want to do is play some of my favourite songs, mostly country. Artists like - Kevin Welch ( Somethin bout you ),
- Keiran Kane ( Eight More Miles ),
- Clay Walker, ( live Laugh Love),
- Daryll Worley, ( I Need A Breather )
- Blake Shelton ( Some Beach ),
- John Prine ( Dear Abby, Please don't bury me, Xmas in prison ),
- Guy Clark ( Dublin Blues, Expose),
to name but a few... Need to get a move on then, I ain't getting any younger...lol. Great site, don't know how I found it but I'm glad I did. keep up the great work Mojo.

Fingertips? Practice a few minutes every day. Pick up the guitar and make chords at every opportunity. The pinky seems to harden up slowly followed by the forefinger. I noticed a difference in about 2 weeks and am starting to press a little less with the fretting hand which helps. Want to play? Me too. Chord changes. That's the key. They must become second nature. So that all you have to know is which chord is coming next. (Newbie perspective.) So, practice C to G to D to A to E ........ et cetera. Terminology? Heck, I thought it was all Gaelic! Just use Google. Or ring that Edge guy from U2. I think he may be your neighbor Mojo could play in any club in Nashville right now. I'm envious. But, you should see these Music Row session players. Oh my God. The only thing I have in common with them is a second job. 56? Hell, I'm 53 so I am going to call you Dad. Welcome aboard jerbear.

Hi Jerbear
It's the same old story, we've all been there and some of us still are ;D
Your fingertips will harden as you continue to play. Honest they will!
your knowledge of guitar speak will improve by regularly dropping by this forum. There are a good few experienced guys on here who are happy to pass on their expertise. But you shouldn't let the gobbildy gook get to you. It should be about finding the guitar that feels right and sounds right when you play it. You can worry about wood tone and tapped P90s once you are a world famous guitarist.
Or you can be like the rest of us and suffer from GAS on a regular basis. There is no cure and the only medication is to regularly purchase some new guitar related item. Preferably a new guitar, that normally relieves the symptoms for a month or so. ;D
Anyway welcome to the forum.

Hi Jerbear, I played a little in college but that was more than 30 years ago! I'm 60 now and my grandson is playing (metal!!!!) I've picked it up again and by golly it's more fun now than ever. Now I just want to get him into a little blues.

Kudos to you guys that are starting out. It's great therapy for what ails ya. Just stay after it and most of the toughening issues will work themselves out. And as Les said, stick around here for a while and we'll corrupt your way of thinking and speaking. ;D Best of everything to you all.

Hi guys, Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I've hit the old folks home here.... And there was me thinking I was going to be the grandad. Are we all having a mid life crisis? Are we trying to re-live our youth? Maybe we're just refusing to grow old! Yeah! That's it! I still feel like a 20 year old.....just don't ask me to do a bunjee jump! Well, let's get to work. I need to start learning here. Hope Mojo does my video request. Love that song "Some Beach" great lyrics and great play on words re- the title. Hope he can "transpose" the chords. Can't do an F chord. hey! Did you notice that big word "TRANSPOSE". Let's hope I used it in the right context. lol Stay Cool Fools! and as Big Arnie would say..........."I'll Be Back" Jerbear

Are we all having a mid life crisis? Are we trying to re-live our youth? if it was all my guitars would sit in the corner unused I only play so much 'cause the kiddies love it, but means I can't turn the amp up and rock out very often carnegie hall man I've only just got comfortable using an F chord, and I'm still getting it wrong on occasion ( been playing for almost 4 years now )
