If I ever buy another guitar, it will be a MIM Strat. Fender MIM guitars are a great value! If you are a new player, I don't think you will notice any difference. Besides what it says on the headstock, the only difference any player can tell when they see a MIM vs American made Strat or Tele is that the MIM has a 21-fret neck and a USA model has a 22-fret neck. FWIW, some say a Squier Classic Vibe is just as good (or better) than a MIM, so it just boils down to what you want it to say on the headstock in some instances.
You can't go wrong with a MIM!

Hello from Rockville, Maryland; I enjoy your videos on threechordguitar, and as a new player need to ask the strum pattern on the Simple Man video. Love that one, thanks Welcome! I love that song also. The pattern I use is Down, Down Up Down Up (next chord) Down, Down Up Down Up (next chord) Down,... If you watch the video closely, Mojo uses this pattern, plus he seems to add a few strums during each Am, after the initial Am C G chord progression. Try it and experiment with it, get the feel for it and add strums where you think they sound right. You'll get it eventually. I hope this helps!

Here are some pictures of my amp. It's main feature is the chorus. It has a couple of very versatile chorus controls. I already dialed in the chorus sound I like. It also has a reverb control. Not as robust as the chorus, but it does the job. It's a two channel amp, with the distortion being channel one and clean being channel two. Again, I already dialed in the distortion that I like. To me, it sounds sort of what I get with my ProCo Rat II pedal. The clean channel is very clean also, and surprisingly very easy to manage even at higher volumes. It has a headphone jack in the back that works very well too. I tested out the effects loop with my DigiTech multi-processing units, and it produces more noise than I would like when using the send/return inputs together, so I either connect my Digitechs directly into the input chain (has two inputs, btw), or into the 'return' of the effects loop. Sounds great with the two latter choices. Here's a picure of it hooked up to my Champ. It sounds great as long as I don't crank the Champ and guitar all the way up. It gives a tiny bit of static sound when I go full out on the volume, but I can still control it even when the Champ volume is at it's max by using my guitar volume knob. Overall, I'm very happy with it!

Hey gasman, happy new year! Yes I pop on occasionally to see if there's anything new going on, but seems to have been a bit quiet! Sort of reflects what's going on atm for me. I don't have any new gear, and while I'm still playing when I can, I'm on a bit of a hiatus doing much in public music wise. At a bit of a stage where I'm plotting.... Err..... Planning... Yes that's the word... What I'm going to do in this next stage of my life that seems to be happening. So once I'm settled again, should have a bit more uptime to throw some things together, but err yes have said that more than once too! :-) How are things in gasman land? Good to hear from you Rayden! It's been sort of quiet for me too. I did manage to get an early Christmas present for myself. I bought an older Crate solid state 120 watt amp. It's more than I need, but I bought it because I can use it as a cab for my Fender Champ 600. It has 1/4" cable connections from the speakers, as opposed to being hard wired, so I can connect the 12" speakers directly into my Champ. It also turned out to be a great amp on it's own, so I ended up with a dual purpose piece of gear which I really like. Other than that, I've been busy with work (more than before), so it's harder to squeeze in more playing time. I hope you have a great year! I'll try to post some pictures of my 'new' old amp soon.

...Everybody! If there is anybody left on this forum . If Les, PW, Mohi, Lee, Rayden, Brad, or Mojo himself read this, it would be nice to hear from you guys on this forum again. That goes for the newer members also. Let's try to revive this place!

This is one of my favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan songs, and this video has both versions of the song. First up is the slower version (Soul To Soul album), then the more upbeat version (The Sky Is Crying album).

Looks like an awesome guitar to set up for slide! I never thought of that, but you're right. For the price, you could get one for slide and one to just have as a 'couch' guitar. They are cool guitars that sound great and are very well made. They come in all of the iconic Gibson shapes too, but what I really like about them is the light weight. It's almost like picking up your acoustic, but without the bulk (plus an amp would come in handy. ).

I did this using my Vox AmPlug straight into Audacity. I had the gain at about 3 and the tone at about 5 on the AmPlug. The only thing I added was Audacity's default delay setting. soundcloud.com/cordoveno/mmfvtest

It was shipped earlier this week! The price at MF was too good to pass up! It's a great sounding light weight guitar! I'm very happy with it! It's ideal for teaching my seven year old son some guitar basics because of it's light weight, but it's a serious guitar all the way! Awesome USA-made guitar for the price! You can't beat that! ;D

I love the idea! I use a site that does something similar, except they don't offer the PDF file. They do offer a MIDI file for almost every song they have, so I guess that would be the trade off. I also like that you include some tab in your files. I would definately use such a feature!
The site I use is based in New Zealand, I believe. They feature a lot of familiar songs, but also a lot of songs/artists that I have never heard of. It would be great to have another outlet similar to that one here in the U.S.A.! I say go for it!

Great pics! I like how you placed your amp in the middle with your guitars on either side. I was going to ask about your Dot until I read the last paragraph.
I might have a picture or two in a couple of weeks. I just ordered a Gibson Melody Maker Flying V from Musician's Friend (great price).

Cool stuff Mojo (and Rayden too)! I'm still a bedroom player (and barely at that), but I can always dream!

Very nice! I thought you had a Strat a while back and didn't like the neck. Was it because it had a satin-finish fretboard? I have a strat copy with a satin finish and I bought my son a Squier with a gloss finish. I like both. But then again, I haven't played my strat copy in some time, and I hardly ever pick up my son's Squier.
Does this new Strat have a different neck profile from your earlier Strat?
