Suppose I'd better stick in a hello too.
My name's Robert, and I'm an alcoh.... erm... no no wrong forum.
I'm an IT Manager for an automotive company in Auckland, New Zealand (also known as that place where the Lord of the Rings was filmed, or where The Flight of the Concords are from). I also play guitar I'd like that to be the other way around, but what you gonna do.
I play mostly blues based stuff, but have been known to venture around. After playing piano and tenor sax, life generally interrupted my music career. After hearing EC's Unplugged I was spurred into blues guitar, that I've just mucked around with for years. There was a time I could play that whole album.
After a couple of false starts the band seems to be coming along. We have a set of about 50 songs together, almost ready to gig. The line up has changed and the songs are a bit different now, but we are on www.reverbnation.com/bluestonenz
I generally fingerpick in a style I'd call "You finger hit string now". I double stop a fair bit in solo's being the only guitarist in our band. At the moment I'm trying to get into some Cropper style riffing. "Follow the dots" man
Current "in use" gear is:
Squier Classic Vibe Thinline Tele in Natural with Kinman Broadcaster pups
DeArmond M-10 Les Paul copy with funky "D" shaped bridge - tuned to open G for slide
Dean Resonator CE
Mesa Boogie 5:50 Express - I never thought I'd own a Mesa, but it was cheaper than the Fenders I was looking at and very versatile.... wtf?
Ceriatone Prinzeton head running through a Blackstar 1x10 - sweet little amp I wired myself. Has some tremolo issues, due to my wiring no doubt, but yeah it's still nice
