Hi all,
I've been bumpin round the net, scoping out Telecasters.
While I really really dig the 50's style Road Worn tele - it got me to thinking. In all the reviews I've seen of the guitar, they often mention the thin nitrocellulose finish. They say it helps the wood breath better and offer better tone.
1. Does this make sense to the guitarists here? I am rather new and don't have the practiced ear to hear such a thing.
2. How hard would it be to apply such a finish? I can get a Baja tele for less, do a refinish and let the runt beat it up for the look.
I did handle a road worn tele on Saturday and instantly fell in love with it but not the $$ tag.

As a kid - I grew up listening to Mellencamp, Conway Twitty, and CCR in the house. For some reason my parents also had Big Bill and Roomful of Blues as well. That planted some seeds. I saw Crossroads when it first hit VHS and I was done. I devoured the blues. Crossroads got me to Clapton who then got me to SRV, his brother Jimmie, and the rest.
Eventually I latched onto grunge in high school. Somehow I found Flogging Molly and that type of music has excited me like no other since I first heard the blues. Particularly Albert Collins and SRV.
A week ago, I realized I've owned 4 guitars (a Peavy Strat-ish type thing, an Ovation acoustic, a Yamaha acoustic and a Jimmie Vaughan Strat) and never learned how to play any of them. So I've got the itch bad and it wasn't long till I found this place. Plan to keep my mouth shut and learn is all.
ZZ Top also gets some heavy play as well.

I don't really archive my ipod - what's on there is what I am listening to at all times.
Currently - SRV, BB King, Clapton, The Architects (from Missouri), Flogging Molly, The Tossers, Dropkick Murphys and Fran Turner.
Some other's thrown in for seed but those are the ones getting the heavy rotation.

Thank you.
I saw Flogging Molly last month - I've been a huge fan of theirs for a few years. Amazing live.
