Hi guys, I have been really busy with our churches music equipment. But this weekend a friend of mine who owns an apple orchard has an open mic music festival. It is always a great time. I am suppling the the sound system and have been asked to sing the the opening song that I wrote. www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQT0o3WG3ZSI&h=NAQBRlm0YAQA3JeugXA6YU7XoCvOXUgK3LYgAqcyR7s7TNgI will be doing a few of my other songs too. You know how these things work they start out with the weakest act first and it only get better from there. This is 4-5 hours of local home grown artists and wanna be artists, good food and yes, beer. Should be a good time. ;D

Well I am back in business I found a used Mackie 24 channels 8 bus mixer. Compared with our old Peavey this is a pro level board. More knobs than I have brain cells left. They won't let me take a beer with me so it might take me a while to get everything going.

I did a make over on our sound system in my church. Moved things around, getting more of the noise off the platform and expanded the sound booth. More table space cleaning up the wires and after 4 hour of work everything looked better, sounded better. Tested every mic and connection balanced the new speaker placement and even wired up our new Roland Stage Piano and it sounded great. Our old upright piano maxes out at 86-88 Db and we have cranked our volume up to 90-92 Db and we needed a better piano. So I went home with a smile on my Face on Friday. Went to church early to do a sound check and the stage monitors were dead. After 45 min of checking the connection, heavy duty praying and perhaps a few inappropriate thoughts. I finally plugged the monitors into the mono out put and we had sound, couldn't adjust the inputs very well. Still was unsure what was going on. Came back on Monday night and checked out the whole board. Only 12 of the 16 channels worked, 2 monitor channels were dead and our tape inputs were dead too. Whoooops.@$#%^&** I think this is a warning that it will all crash very soon. Our 15 year old Peavey mixer is going fast. So I am in the hunt for a newer 32 channel mixer very soon. Peavey or Yamaha is probably in the budget. Beringer's are $400 TO $600 But I am worried about the quality. I am sure I can get something for $600 to $1200 so we don't have to go acoustic. Wish me luck and pray it dosen't crash.

Boy Mphi, you have gotten smooth. Every time I hear your songs they are getting better and better, you transitions and tone and high lights are excellent.. As usual I am very envious. Keep it up man.

Welcome to the forum I am an old seasoned player who just sounds like a beginner. Much of what you have suggested is right on, in my opinion. Every player has likes and dislikes in his favorite guitar and I think the neck is the most important as far as playability. Light gauge strings are very important, they are just easier to play, I have used several strings over the years and it comes down to how do they sound and how long do they last. I also agree that if you buy new $300 will buy you a great started guitar. If you choose used you can get a nice guitar for $200. Before you buy find someone who has been playing for a while to help you get a solid guitar. Some times the glitter gets in the way. Not sure what a solid neck is?? Anyway welcome ;D ;D ;D
