HJ - EVERYTHING weighs more than my thinline yeah first time I lifted the G&L ASAT Special I'm pretty sure my back went It's a great slab of a Tele. They do sound fantastic tho. I almost got one, but I'm pretty happy w my Tele sound. The S-500 has a lot of sound options to explore too so I'm really looking forward to it

The excitement from creating 'your" guitar is so cool. I mean ok, I'm sure someone else could have ordered one the way you have, but still, the idea of selecting each part....nice. Gratz dude.

Actually my Epiphone EM-1 is probably as light as my Thinline if not a little lighter, which is a little scary still thinking of putting P90's on that thing. Yeah balashazar true, it is more of "my selection of legos" rather than "custom legos made for me". But probably the closest I'll get to a custom guitar, and it is being ordered and made for me... ignoring some people maybe testing it I'll be the first player and it won't be sitting in a store for months getting played by everyone, dropped, scratched.... no no the shipping will bash the heck out of it for me

The main features of the Epiphone EM1 include: Bad boy image with a high quality construction and sound that makes its appeal irresistible Honeycomb Balsa wood body Hard Maple 24-fret bolt-on neck, Speed Taper profile Rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays 1.68 inch nut width Two 700T/650R open coil humbucker pickups Chrome hardware Die-Cast Tuners Volume and tone controls with 3-way selector String-through body Tailpiece and Tune-o-matic Bridge

Honeycomb Balsa wood? what the? www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=286&CollectionID=18 heh well it 'says' alder. It's more light for its small body size as you see from the massive cutaway, it's got like half the wood of a Tele! The neck's actually pretty comfy which is why I got it. The sound is kinda meh for me, but some tonerider rebel p90's should kick it up a bit. But I'm busy affording other things at the moment, like the original topic of this post I'm actually thinking of changing from 10 gauge strings back to 9's. The fingernail on my index finger on my left hand is trying to lift, too much gnarly vibrato last sunday I'm afraid. I'll probably replace the high E 9 with a 10 tho so I can't snap it so easy stupid weedy fingers!

It is a well known fact the Honeycomb Balsa wood - just like Audi trannys are a made from a form of chocolate Note for Lesblues - Tranny is American for gearbox - has nothing to do with cross dressing or gender rearrangment

To use your vernacular, the tranny out of my bmw must have come out of an Audi factory then. Did my drop to 9's on my peavey strat... haven't yet swapped in a 10 string. They're sharp sounding, quite punchy, not that I was expecting a fat tone from thin strings! Might make chord work interesting, it's like they're fighting eachother. I'm over bending them a little, might have to be a bit careful there. Bit too easy to play really, but then not ripping up my fingers so bleh. Might adjust my pickup height tomorrow and see what I can achieve.

I read a blog recently where an American concert pianist fell in love with a grand piano in France. Bought it and had it shipped back to America. The American authorities impounded it and told her she had two choices either ship the piano back to France or have the ivory removed as it was a prohibited good. For the conservation of elephants. It didn't matter that the elephant that this ivory had come from had been killed long before the legislation was brought in. Needless to say, returning the piano to France was financially prohibitive. She had to arrange for the keys to be removed and sent back to France. There was a happy ending though. Apparently the French people, when it was made public, created such an uproar (not at all like the French ) the American authorities backed down and the keys and the piano were reunited! Just hope the neck of your guitar is not made from Brazillian mahogany or some other protected wood!! Never under estimate the stupidity of our leadership here in the US Lucky for us it is on both side of the political spectrum, we don't like to descriminate here. Perhaps you gents over there need a friend from over here that just sends you a guitar/equipment package that doesn't involve tarriffs.

I did notice both my EM-1 and my dearmond were discontinued, and both fairly soon after purchase... go up in value you buggers hehe I actually noticed the frets on my peavey strat are pretty munted, but I'll probably live with them till the s-500 arrives... Also our dog pee'd on my Vox DA5 and despite attempting to dry it out (and my attempt to set the carpet on fire for the insurance in the process...) it still don't go... grr... I was hoping he'd pee on my homemade tube amp... he wouldn't be doing that twice Anyway going small amp shopping on the weekend... actually if I get a good run home from work I might just nip in... A little reluctant to get a DA5 again, not due to anything wrong with it just a bit more than I want to pay. Probably going to try a micro3 which looks very similar just a bit smaller and 1/3 cheaper. Was looking at a Jamvox which is a little more than a DA5, but that has to be connected to a PC to work... bah Also saw this wee fella that looks interesting. www.musicplanet.co.nz/shop/Browse+by+Category/Amps/Guitar+Amps/Vox+AC1+Mini+Battery+Amp+with+Rhythm+Patterns.html

hmm Sorry that's a Vox Mini3. Shop didn't have one I could try bah... The AC1 + rhythm I linked above is an interesting beastie. Big for a mini amp, has 2x 3inch speakers, includes drum patterns. Not very flexible sound - didn't seem to get much difference out of the gain control though. It would probably loud enough as a practice amp, but I'm pretty sure the novelty would wear off, and I'd probably then say I should have spend a little more money on the mini3 / DA5 again. I may consider a G-Dec Junior too... gotta find one tho is the problem lol

OK it's the same price as the DA5, but the G-Dec Junior is on its way... I'll throw up a video when I have it lol
