The only thing I've ever used on a guitar is a non-silicone based polish. For fretboard cleaning I use a stiff toothbrush to scrub either side of the fret wires. I use a 1" wide soft bristle paint brush to get the dust that settles under the strings above the bridge, nut and around the tuners. I clean the rest of the guitar with a little polish and a soft cotton cloth. Been doing it that way since they finished the pyramids.

Glass cleaner for the body and none silicone based polish - I am using a Gibson polish at moment I have used a Carnuba based car polish once will work on a poly finish Damp microfibre cloths work well 1" soft bristle paint brush for all the dust. Lemon oil on Rosewood and Ebony fret boards Fast fret for my strings

this stuff i have is non silicone based and also gives the strings and fretboard a fine coat of wax ( ptfe, better known as teflon ) to me this makes the strings more playable and easier to bend it also reduces the dragging noise when sliding up and down the neck ( mostly with barre chords ) check it out www.chromefrets.co.uki think thats the website otherwise just youtube it and there is a demo on there

Yeah I'm with HJ, tend to use glass cleaner, or sometimes a surface cleaner (whatever I can find basically) on the body. I have a dodgy product called Boogie Juice. Worse, it's dispensed from what appears to be a salvaged marker pen but it's a lemon based product that I use on the neck. I usually do the neck when I replace the strings, I'll do the body only occasionally - usually when there's far too much of my grated fingers on there that I can't see the body anymore.

Back in the day we used WD40 on the strings, I now use fast fret when I clean them. But most of the time I just use and old diaper or microfiber cloth after each use. I like to wash my hands before playing to get the oil and salt off my hands too. I also stopped picking my nose when I play, helped alot. ;D
