hoped he might have posted while I was noodling downstairs on my setup
Ok here's what I'm playing with for my pedal setup, this is a bit of a departure from the guitar into amp setup that I'm used to, but as I've said before I'm pushing myself into it
OLD Setup for recording yesterday:
Guitar -> Morley Wah Pro Series II (among the best wah's I've heard and I don't use it nearly enough) -> Vox Ice 9 -> Amp
New Setup I'm going to try (hold your breath folks)
Guitar -> Behringer PH9 -> Behringer UP100 -> Morley Wah Pro Series II -> Behringer DC9 -> Vox Ice 9 -> Electro Harmonix Memory Boy -> Amp
Just a bit of a rundown of the new guys in here.
Behringer PH9 - a 90 degree phaser. Provides a light treble-y phaser sound. looks like a better construction pedal than some of the other Behringer ones I nabbed. Set to Swirl mode and sounds awesome.
Behringer UP100 - Ultra Phaser gives a much deeper bass-y phaser sound. I initially figured the pedal was busted as you have to turn the phaser rate and depth very high to get a noticeable phase sound even on its own, then tweak very gradually. Sound is good so it can stay
Behringer Comp DC9
From what I've read a take on the MXR Dyna Comp, and this is a very good compressor. Doesn't clip out and start sounding crap like my Line 6 Constrictor did. Wind Cries Mary is again my staple song to try and test this with and it brings out the hammer ons and gives some very nice tones. This is also in the better construction style
Electro Harmonix Memory Boy
Ok this sucker takes a bit of working out to actually figure what it's doing. I did have to get the manual
heh Since it's doing vibrato/chorus and delay all in one (and I should mention all at once) plus you have control over effected and not effected signal, it confused me initially. You have to basically blend in and out what you do or don't want, which gives you almost too much control. Once I'd figured that out, well a beautiful almost Leslie style sound was emitted from this wee box. Very nice for Riviera Paradise which is where I went straight away
Pedals I got but just can't put anywhere yet
Behringer CS400 Compressor - I got this incase I wasn't happy with the DC9 - It can have a good home
Behringer US600 Shifter - ugh... I think I'll give up finding a cheap pitch shifter..... This is another complicated pedal though, so I'll probably try and have a more thorough play on the weekend. Initial impression - single note wise you're ok, but it still warbles a little. two notes isn't too bad. play anything beyond that and all goes to crap. I may still use it as a detune or tremolo effect or something....
