My first ever amp (which I still have) is a silverface champ. Around a 77 I believe. Mom bought it new for me when she bought me my first guitar. A 77 Strat which I lament that I don't still have.
Anyway, I'm I tube guy. With all their faults I can't stop using them.
Although I am considering using a hybrid setup for live stuff. There is a local guy named Dabeck that does custom "clone" amps. He and I have discussed him making me a dual channel amp based on a blackface Fender Bassman. He can voice each channel differently for each of my two main guitars and put in a direct out for going to a speaker simulator that would go direct to the board. That way there is no stage volume for the soundman to deal with except that coming from the monitors. Of course this would mean I have to completely trust the soundman to give me enough volume and mix to make it work for me. It's hard to play well if it sounds bad or if you can't hear.....Anyway, its a consideration.

so guys i thought id narrowed it down to two amps 1. the fender superchamp (probably the straight channel) 2. the laney cub 12 but then ................... along comes mr fender blues junior !!! (quite expensive though ) around £300-350 question is this does anybody have experience of these amps ? if yes then maybe they could offer up some comparisons and pros and cons for me bearing in mind it is a good blues sound im after , that said im not letting the fender blues junior throw me in any way coz there may be amps out there that give a better blues sound thanks guys

I'd only really fault the Blues Junior on its price, Fender tube amps in general have gotten VERY expensive over here. I'd sooner look for more bang for buck unless money is not so much of a deal. There's several tube amps at 1/4 to 1/2 the price (Epiphone Valve Junior is $349 here, the more expensive 5w amps are $600-700, where Fender Blues Junior is $1200). Again tubes sound their best when CRANKED. 15 watts cranked is DEAFENING inside your house

a bit more research required on the blues junior then rayden to see if it allows a one watt output as hj mentioned that the laney cub 12 allows you to set a 1 watt out put to get cranked sounds at low volumes you gotta agree though the blues junior sounds great did you watch the link to the demo i put up ? the kid playing is pretty good too

No I didn't look at the clip... will now heh but this is because I've looked at the blues junior before and what put me off was what I mentioned above - there are several better bang for buck amps out there. As I say if money's not the issue, it's a great sounding amp. I can switch my Mesa Boogie into 5w mode and it's still too loud lol Yeah that's some nice playing there

cool HJ thanks maybe im reading your post wrong but the way i read is as if youre saying you prefer the cub 10 to the cub 12 do you ? Quite the opposite really mate - given a choice Cub12 all the way I think they are both great amps and I would say if you can afford the Cub12 that is the better option, bigger speaker, reverb, more powerful but with the low wattage setting. It will be LOUD even at 1 watt I couldn't really justify the extra money as my Cub10 isn't my main amp at the end of the day (although I do remember asking my local if they had one and if they had f**k justification I would have got it). I actually went for the Cub10 more for it's physical size to be honest I just wanted and amp to fit on the window ledge in the conservatory which it does perfectly I was just saying how pleased I am with it and I know you will love the Cub12 dude I think you have made a really good choice.
