Not sure what it's called. It's nato wood, which is basically mahogany... I have another baritone uke in that same color, but the wood grain is not as pretty.

I just saw Down From the Mountain for the first time. When I grow up I want to play mandolin like the guy in Union Station.

Thanks, I lucked out, it's very figured. Nato is basically mahogany, btw...
Since those pics were taken I added another baritone uke in nato. Nowhere near as pretty as this one, but it's a fun uke to play live, and I have it tuned DGBE as oppose to GCEA on my tenor and other baritone uke... fun times!

Our singer dropped off a mandolin for our other guitarist and myself to play around with. It's with me now and the other guy may not get a shot at it. I played all day and had a blast. Not even sure I have it tuned properly but I got some cool bluegrass stuff going on and a mando version of You Really Got Me. hahaha

When I want something easy, I use a USB mic (Snowball from Blue) straight into the laptop. I use Audacity on the software side, which is a free download. It has a compressor plugin builtin that does a great job.

I use a Samson G track - basically a USB microphone but also has a line in so you can record via the line in and mic at the same time. I find it easy to use and pretty inexpensive for what it is
