I finally got a USA-made electric in my collection! It's not a Fender, or G & L, or even a Gibson - It's a custom made Tele that I mentioned in another thread. This guitar was made about 100 miles from me in 2010. The maker (a Frenchman, no less, Mojo), had this guitar up for sale on Craigslist. I called him up and we were able to meet about 40 miles from my house to complete the sale. I had initially thought of buying from another custom guitar maker to the north of me, but this one popped up on CL and I really liked it. It is made out of swamp ash (3-piece), and has a strat-like contour back. It has an awesome maple neck and fretboard which has a worn amber vintage look (12" radius). It's not a traditional Tele in the pickup configuration as you can see. It has a 'lipstick' Tele neck pickup, a middle pickup from a Strat 57 reissue, and a humbucker bridge pickup. The pickups are wired up to a 5-way switch, just like a Strat. It has a real bone nut that was cut by the maker based on an Earvana compensated plastic nut. The tuners are auto locking Wilkinson. The autograph is that of Ryan McGarvey, an Albuquerque musician that signed the guitar after playing it live at a local club last year. Ryan McGarvey is a young blues rock guitarist that was named the winner of the Ernie Ball 'Play Crossroads' contest in 2010. I'll post a video of his in the 'video clips' section so you all can give him a listen.

That's one wild pickguard! The pickup config seems very versatile. Should cover a lot of ground!

Thanks guys! I have never posted any sound clips here (except for the clips I had in my blog), but for this guitar, I'll have to come up with something, because it sounds fantastic! I'll probably just do some chord progressions using the different settings. And, yeah, the pickguard is pretty wild, but I really liked it because the body and pickguard (the yellow anyway), are my state colors, and they are also my high school colors from back in the day!

That is a fine looking guitar Gman, more ostentatious than I imagined you would go for. and certainly customised. you are, I am sure, really going to enjoy playing it. Looking forward to hearing your sound clips. ;D

That pickguard is funky, and I do like the flipped controls - couple of fenders have started with that. Nice red Tele I'm sure you'll get a nice variety of sounds.

Les, Rob, RK: Thanks for the compliments!
It is a unique guitar, that's for sure. The pickguard is what stands out at first glance, but it is very versatile as you guys have noted, and I also like the flipped controls. I really like having three different types of pickups on one guitar. All of my other guitars are different from one another, and this one is no exception, and I really like that idea of having each guitar different. I think I'm really going to have fun with this one!

G&Ls are great guitars, from what I read. I actually lusted over a few on my quest for another guitar, but the funds were not there at the time. I'm hoping to get a sound clip up, probably sometime next week.
