This is a Korean made Hohner SE35 Professional series built in the mid '70s. The tone variations from this guitar are amazing, apparently this is true of all semi hollow bodies, they are very versatile guitars. The stock pick ups are pretty good, perhaps a little muddy at times but they way I play that is not a major problem. This is currently my go to guitar even over my Fender American Tele. For me the neck on this guitar is more difficult to master than my Tele or the Jedson when playing bar chords or trying Brown Sugar by the Stones. Probably because I am not very proficient at bar chords yet! Still, I do like this guitar a lot and "The Thrill is Gone" by BB King sounds amazing. (He doesn't seem to play too many chords) Not that Mr King has played my guitar and I have only mastered the intro solo to the song so far. This is the guitar I am thinking about upgrading by replacing the tuners possibly with Tonepros-Kluson and the pick ups with Bare Knuckle Stormy Mondays. With that in mind if anyone has any opinions on the benefits/disadvantages of locking tuners I would be glad to hear them.

Have them on the strat and love 'em. They are on the Rees Custom as well. Locking tuners are quick and easy for string changes - but in your case MrB I am not sure that matters as you will have to BUY some new strings first You have less wrap or no wrap so this helps with tuning stability Usually of more benefit to guitars fitted with vibrato Oh and nice guitar Les. I must admit the sound clips I heard of it wouldn't make me want to change the pick ups to be honest. I thought it sounded pretty nice and how I would expect a HBG (Hill Billiy Guitar) to sound.

Thanks for the comments on the tuners. I didn't know you used them. I have heard conflicting reports about them, but you are happy with them?
Good of you to say you liked the sound clips. I am still undecided about the pick ups especially if I can't either do it myself or get a lower price quote. Anyway that is for the future.
RE the strings, I've told you before the older they are the Bluesier they sound ;D

Yeah got them on my Strat and based on that had them on my Custom.
I am not sure of any disadvantages of them once they are installed. Older ones were apparently a bit heavy and cumbersome so I have heard.
I would say on a non trem guitar that didn't have them - if the tuning stability was OK I wouldn't change them - however a new build or a new guitar if I had the choice I would want them.
If your guitar stays in tune and given the fact you don't change strings to often I am not sure if you wouldn't be wasting your money.
Basically if your guitar stays in tune and changing strings isn't a problem why bother?

Great guitar! Semi-Hollows are amazing, they are one of my favorites! Hey, where are these sound clips I was reading about?? The sound clips weren't really fit for public consumption but if I can work up the courage to expose my inability as a guitarist I may post some using my new amp.
