I have received some cool Guitar stuff for Christmas including a Boss eband www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=1027&c=46This is a really cool piece of kit. Gives me something to jam along with until HJ and I can meet up again It also has a looper function that requires me to buy an additional pedal such as the Boss FS - 6 to use it. here is where question 1 comes in. If I wanted to use the fs-6 with my stomp boxes, when not using it with the eband and I have two seperate pedal chains set up, could I switch between them using this pedal? The next question is about the Boss volume/expression pedals: FV-500L (stereo, low-impedance) and FV-500H (mono, high-impedance, inst. level). Either of these pedals can be used with the eband to manually control the Wah effect (I just have to figure out how, someone really needs to help Boss write the user manuals so that numpties from Scotland can understand them). Of course they can also be used as volume pedals in an effects chain. So My conundrum is two fold, first am I correct in thinking that the different impedence of the pedals dictates whether they go at the start or end of the chain? I think, the high impedance, mono pedal is meant to go at the start and the other pedal if used instead would be placed at the end of the chain. Am I correct in thinking this and does it make any real difference whether I buy one pedal or the other from that point of view? The next question is can you tell me why I might want/need a stereo volume pedal as opposed to a mono volume pedal? My thoughts are the FS-6 pedal to use with the eband's looper function and if possible with my effects chain as a switch. Either the stereo or mono volume/expression pedal to use with the wah in the eband and sometimes as a volume pedal in my chain. Simple really. I hope.

Much as I like my Boss BR-900 for a little jam along, it badly needs a set of inbuilt speakers to be used for this. I have to go find my headset and a 1/4in adapter and plug that in then I've got cords all over the place; not really comfortable to just sit and play. I should buy a set of speakers That looks like a neat little box to have. You can't multi-track on board, but you can use usb + PC for that. Also the controls weren't designed by a sound engineer like the BR series - it looks nice and easy to use - I spend ages setting up a song. Boss COSM modeling is pretty good too - used it on a few of my recordings. I'm still considering a Fender G-Dec Junior for a little muck around thing. But probably not - wallet is still recovering from xmas

Sorry dude, I've been really busy. I'll research this asap. Panic over RK. I contacted Roland UK who were able to answer my questions. I have to say that this is a particularly nice toy. It makes playing along with tunes very easy. You can loop an entire song or just a section, slow it down, change the key and cancel out the lead guitar (admittedly I haven't mastered that quite yet). It features a metronome and a tuner too. Recording your "jam" is very simple. you can also overdub and build up a track using the onboard drum machine and your guitar or mic plus any mp3 or wave files you want to use. The effects are, to my ears anyway, pretty good and the sound from the speakers is more than adequate in terms of volume and performance for bedroom use. The unit itself looks smart enough to be given house room in the lounge without incurring any wrath from anyone! According to Boss it is possible to use the unit in conjunction with other stomp boxes. There are phono line outs which are intended for outputting the sound to a HI Fi, but with the correct cable can be used to connect it to a stomp box or even your amp. You can also use it for something called "re-amping" this is where you record a guitar clean with no effects in your DAW software on you computer then play it through the eband adding the effects you want then recording it as a new track in the DAW. All in all I am very pleased with the eband, a great practise tool plus a whole lot more besides. ;D All I have to do now is buy the Boss FS6 Dual Footswitch so that I can start using the phrase looping function.

Sounds good. If my Boss BR900 has bitten the dust given my current finances I'll probably have to use tracks off my keyboard. The eband is a bit pricey at the moment for me so the other option would be a G-Dec Jnr, or maybe with a bit more hunting I'll find a pedal type thing to suit.
First things first, tho not necessarily in that order.

Sorry again Les, been a tough couple of weeks. Glad you got the info you need. I might like to look into one of those myself. Can't wait to catch ya'll up on my pedal madness though. I sold about half my board out and am replacing with new goodies. And my "dream" OD should be to me by Monday or so.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new pedals. one of my sons gave me a Boss BCB 60 for Christmas so I've been giving some thought to new pedals too. I'm considering the new Boss Wah, the PW-10. Features: World's first COSMĀ® modelling wah pedal, with 6 classic and modern wah pedal models Noise-free operation with advanced infrared pedal detection 8 onboard Overdrive/Distortion effects to perfectly complement the wah sounds New 'Voice' mode simulates 'talking' vowel sounds New 'Double Resonance' mode creates analog synth-type sounds 'Uni-V' effect produces vintage swirling rotary sounds 3 digital memories for saving customized wah sounds for instant recall Wah Range knob allows users to customize the filtering range instantly Sounds like it should be a lot of fun!
