Hey guys. I'd like to try out some thicker necked electric guitars. Any suggestions? I know Mojo likes the Crooks, but the chance of me getting a Crook here is pretty remote and the shipping would make me broke I've tried looking online, but neck thicknesses seem to be the holy grail of guitar making and few websites want to share. Don't blame em but it makes research (and hence buying) hard! Mojo estimated the thickness of the Crooks at about an inch at the nut which is pretty big compared to any guitar I presently own. So aside from Fender et Gibson, the likes of Cort, Schecter, Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Danelectro (who I must say has a crap website), PRS are pretty easily available. I've seen a Maton I might check out also... Otherwise I'm going to have to go to like 3-4 music stores since each one here has ownership over particular brands.... Not really a bad thing to tick around a few music stores for a day! But it's harder to compare guitars when you can't A+B them in one place.

I'm experiencing a similar problem Rob. I now play an old Cort LP copy that has a pretty beefy C shaped neck and I really love it. Especially compared to the new thin necks on many newer guitars. I want to try a Baja Tele with the V neck but nobody carries one in stock around here and I refuse to spend $800 on the interweb without trying it out first.

I have two guitars with v and soft v necks, one is my Clapton Strat which is my favorite neck. I then got an after market v neck for my line 6. I love the v neck . I think the neck was a mighty mite neck. Bought it for about $120. It was a very nice maple, strat type neck. I think I think I bought it in a store in chicago on line.

Visited one of the stores today. They had the Schecter PT Fastback which has gotten my attention before - that said this store is mainly Ibanez so all thin necks... They did have the Maton 12 string model tho which surprisingly had a thin neck....

Yup, I like them ole baseball bat necks, but only in the Fender scale The All Parts TMFO-FAT neck for Teles is kick (_._) and exactly what I crave. And still affordable!

Anyone try a Danny Gatton signature Tele? Talk about a baseball bat neck. Really awesome. I like the 50s profile Les Paul necks as well. Most of the Les Paul's I've owned had them and they've always felt good to me.

Wasn't too crazy about the cubic ziroconium markers on the side of the neck, and planned on changing the pickups, too, but they're fine guitars for sure!

Redneck cool baby. And Mojo, don't you know that changing out Joe Barden's is redneck sacrilege. ;D ;D

The only one I have played is the G&L and I have a G&L Tribute Semi Hollow ASAT and it is pretty nice. My old guitar teacher had a Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom which he thought was brilliant Have you looked at Godin? The Godin Summit leaves the G&L Tribute on the start line when it comes to quality but it is more expensive The Godin Summit has a neck width of 43mm 1&11/16" which is pretty wide. Quite flat but very comfy to play (16") I mention the Godin Summit in particular as I have one but I rarely hear anything bad said about them. Even the Godin Freeway (stratolike) has a wide neck but a smaller fingerboard radius (12") They really nice guitars as well. The Godin Summit is pretty high spec for the money with SD pups and an Ebony fingerboard www.godinguitars.com/godinsummitp.htm

I happen to be quite a fan of Godin guitars in general. Great deals.

Hey Happy Jack, you have a schecter pt. How did you find it? You said before you were changing the pickups. Why is this? It's probably going to be somewhere in my final selection.

I got on a bit of a whim because it was cheap as the store selling it was in dire financial straits (actually shut a few weeks after) and looked nice. The set up was awful, very high action and terrible intonation so much so that I had to have it professionally set up. It also needed a full fret dress. The guitar plays nice and feels nice but the picks are two powerful for me and lack clarity even when coil tapped. There are two different pick-up sets on the PT and PT fastback. The PT are Schecter Super Rocks and the PT Fastback are Duncan designed I think you need to try them and see what you think I have to admit though they wouldn't be a brand I would recommend from personal experience but I may have had a bad one If you can get your hands on Godin I think you will see a huge difference in quality
