Can't go wrong with either of them really. G&L is a different company started by Leo Fender and I believe he considered the models he designed to be improvements over the first Fenders. As I am really enjoying my stay in Tele-land right now I find it hard to believe them improvements rather than just differences. Nonetheless, both are great instruments just a little different.

The USA G&Ls are twice that. They are OK as good as as a high end MIM Fender but they don't quite have the same sound as a Fender IMHO - that isn't a bad thing it just depends what you want At the end of the day if you like it then they are good quality guitars - I have a G&L Tribute Thinline but in all honesty I would spend more and buy a USA Standard over a G&L Tribute any day. In fact I would buy a Classic Player Fender over a G&L Tribute - but that is a personal thing - if you want the Fender sound get a Fender! Classic player Fenders are superb value for money - and if you don't believe me go and Google You also have Levinson Blades and Godin that make decent Sratolikes If you weren't so fussy about colour I know where there is a nice 50th Anniversary Special Edition Strat up for sale I have also heard of some big price increases coming soon at Fender

I am going to suggest some sacrilege here on Fender Central. My third favorite guitar is my old Ibanez 540 PRO Road Star series .(pre Santani) Great pickups and a wonderful fast neck. The top end Ibanez guitars are very high quality guitars. They do have an electric blue color too. The other option is to buy the guitar you want and paint it.

I haven't thought about them in years but I used to love the old Roadstar series. They were great "road" guitars. They weren't too expensive and sounded good. Tough enough for roadies to mishandle and offered the features sought after in the day. Good suggestion Phil. And I don't necessarily believe this is Fender central. It's just that we've prayed for wisdom and have been granted it. ;D Just kidding Bro. Peace, Brad

thanks for putting that link up jay that is exactly the sort of thing im after You're welcome, it is a beautiful guitar. A bit more money then you want to spend, especially when you factor in shipping. The seller had it on special a couple of weeks ago for 1300. US Always worth an email to see if you can get a deal. Be sure to let us know what you end up with.

Nice guitar but in the UK we would possibly have to pay import tax as my stupid nephew found out buying a second Epiphone Casino from the Ebay in the USA. By the time he paid for shipping and import duty he could have got a new one in the UK for not a lot more - the muppet! Of course you can take a chance it will get past customs.

There was a used guitar just like that on my local Craigslist about six months ago. They wanted only $600 for it! If I would have had the money, I would have made the 200 mile round trip just to get it *drool*!
