Hi, Big fan! Thanks for all of the great content. When soloing or just running pentatonic scales, what is your finger pattern, that is, which fingers pluck which strings. I vastly prefer strumming chords without a pick but and a little lost when it comes to which fingers to use where when soloing. -HMB

When I'm picking I generally use my thumb for the top three strings and the index 'johnny cash' and ring finger for the other three ( in order ). This generally applies to most tunes ( stairway, street spirit and everybody hurts are three I use this for ), though occasionally I'll move the three fingers up or down a string or two.

i do the same as verbosity and to be fair i think this is the usual pattern for most arpeggio(finger picking of chords) although when it comes to solos for example the two solos in claptons acoustic version of layla (which i am learning at the minute ) u need to pay attention as to which strings are plucked on the down beat or the solo just wont sound right everybody hurts is an easy song to learn arpeggio but it can also be strummed all the way through too when it comes to playing scales it would depend on the scale you are playing as to which fingers you would use hope i was of help to you
