Good job you didn't put The Who in the list- I'd have taken them as my first choice as well.
The Stones only get the vote as I hate Oasis.........

I refuse to vote if the Goodies are excluded. I mean come on, when you think of great rock and roll.....who else would you think of? ;D ;D ;D ;D OK, I'll be the rebel here. The Beatles for me. 40 years without as much as a single new tune and still influencing music.

They seem to lack the edginess of the bands I tend to like. Atlthough there is no doubt they have influenced many bands - I mean like Wully says if it wasn't for the Beatles we wouldn't have had Oasis - so there is another reason not to like them ;D ;D (sorry Kev).

Hm. Oranges are really not my cup of tea, so I have to pick apples Really... I don't see a "rock'n roll" in this poll, so of course I vote for The Beatles!

I would tend to say the Stones as I prefer listening to their music than the Beatles. I think in the aspect of guitar work the Stones are far superior but as for influencing other bands it would have to go to the Beatles.
Lennon/McCartney for songwriting skills though, Jagger/Richards just don’t seem to be in the same league as Lennon/McCartney
No offence taken Andy

I like the grit of the Stones the best, but the most influence into the music world has to be the Beatles. The diversity of that goup in shapping music was unmatched. For longevity and general appeal, not to mention Keith's Richards tollerance to drugs the Stone Rule!!! Phil

Time to show my true colours. The Stones for me. Their music has always had (imo) more heart and sole than the Beatles. Compare "I want to hold your hand" with "Honky Tonk Woman" I accept that the Beatles have been influential but who in their right mind wants to listen to Oasis? The Stones have also influenced other musicians and they are still performing. No contest really.
Sorry the Who weren't included but I wanted to compare the Beatles and the Stones rather than find out who we all thought was the best band ever. That poll would have been a long list indeed and the Goodies would probably have come out on top anyway. :-)

I... I...,
but ok, the category's description says NO RELIGION, so I will quietly shake my head in disbelief ;D
(But, granted, there's no such thing as Obladi Oblada or Yellow Submarine on The Stones' account)

The world would be a boring place otherwise. Just so long as we agree I'm right and your not on this one. :-) :-) :-)
