I personally would go for a Mel over a Suhr except in terms of resale value, where the Suhr will hold its value better.

Hmmmm. So many to check out. I've never heard of Melancon or Suhr, but I'm stuck in the great sticks of Oklahoma.
I need to dig around locally and check out the "mom and pop" shops.

Do that! The more exposure you get, the better.

I had time to hit a small guitar shop today. They had a used Carvin. Anybody had any experience with those? It had active pickups, but I didn't get to play it through an amp - they were very busy. Not exactly what I had in mind, but interesting. Photo (bad):

Whiskey, Shoot down to Dallas and check out Charleys Guitar shop. They have a great selection of new and used Anderson's and a ton of nice vintage stuff. Also, you can't go wrong with the Melancon and Suhr guitars either. Once you've played one you get spoiled in the best of ways. I extend you a jealous congrats on this one. Great wife, a keeper in my book.
