Woo Hoo! The wifey said, "Why don't you buy a new guitar for Vday?" After a double take and a "Whut?!" from me, we agreed on a budget of $1300-$1500. (I know I will be paying for this BIG TIME at a later date.) Now - What do I buy? I have a Les Paul Studio and an Epiphone DOT (ES335 copy) - I'd like something a bit different. All suggestions entertained - quickly, before she changes her mind...

Not sure of the exchange rate but I would try some of these out.
Fender Baja Telecaster G&L Models Epiphone Lennon Revolution Casino Various Strats and Tele's Fender Jaguar/Jazzmaster.
Is the money for a guitar only or do you need an amp, pedals etc etc

I'd look for a used Melancon. Beautiful guitars at a ridiculously low price for the quality.

For a guitar only I would def look at G&L. Never played one but the reviews seem positive.

If I were you, I'd get a nice Fender Strat or Tele or, as Kevina said, a nice G&L!

Godin do some really nice guitars for the money loads of bang for your buck and they have just brought out a Strat copy not as pretty as a Strat but probably better!
Reverend Guitars look interesting quite rare in the UK and also St blues both look really nice and very different to the mainstream
G & L would be high on my list as well cause you need a strat type in your collection
Melancon look beautiful but I never seen one in the UK
Edited to say you lucky lucky b**t**d - I will get a bloody card and that's it! and that will be from Lesblues again!

I'd look for a used Melancon. Beautiful guitars at a ridiculously low price for the quality. I checked out some of these before - seems like they were double my budget. I can't remember whether they were used or not, though. G&L- I think I have seen them in a few of the guitar rags. Lots of good suggestions that I wouldn't have thought of myself.

I vote for the Tele or the G&L Let us know what you decide on, as we are all a little envious for sure!

I can't remember whether they were used or not, though. You can get a used Melancon in great condition for between $1000 and $1200. This beauty's asking price is $1500, but it's been there a while, so I guess the guy would budge a bit: Specs from the Mel site…. Serial Number: 0565 Completed: 2001-08-01 Model: Classic Artist Body Wood: Swamp Ash Body Color: BlueBurst Chambers?: N Top Wood: Quilted Maple Neck Wood: Maple Neck Finish: Satin Headstock Color: Matching Neck Carve: Standard Overcarve: NA Machineheads: Locking Nut Size: 1.6875" Nut Material: Bone Trussrod: Standard Fretboard Wood: Rosewood Fretboard Radius: 12" Fretwire Size: 6150 Standard Pickguard: Pearloid Pickups (Bridge): Duncan Pickups (Middle): Duncan Pickups (Neck): Duncan Electronics Upgrade?: Midi: N Bridge: Standard Hardware Color: Chrome You won't find that quality in a $1500 Fender. Ever.

Those are both nice guitars Mojo
Suhrs are available in my local shop over here but I have never seen a Melancon
I think I would go with second hand either of those over anything else
The prices of second hand Suhrs are around £1400-£1500 but they are pretty rare
