www.rasmusguitars.com/Made in Asia, Japanese hardware, Suhr pick-ups, final QC and set up by Suhr in the USA They don't seem that cheap or they certainly won't be by the time they hit the UK. Not convinced on the look personally - are they out over the pond yet and has anyone tried one?

Had never heard of them before. Looking at the one price I saw on their website, they are more expensive than the high-end Epiphones (excluding signature and limited edition models). I don't call that a 'value-priced' guitar! No thanks, not impressed! I've got all the guitars I need, but if I didn't, I'd still stick with buying my 'used - under $350' guitars!
Mini-Rant: I just can't see how guitars can be so expensive! It's getting to the point where only rich people seem to have the right to enjoy playing a decent guitar (seems that's what some manufacturers think, anyway!) To me, owning a guitar isn't a competition about who can have the most expensive guitar. It's about finding a decent guitar at a decent price that you will enjoy playing, regardless of what it says on the head stock!
Sorry that I used your thread to rant, Happy Jack, but just seeing that website made me want to say something that I've been wanting to say for a long time!

Sorry that I used your thread to rant, Happy Jack, but just seeing that website made me want to say something that I've been wanting to say for a long time! I agree G-man - from the site The goal became to produce the best possible quality guitars at a lower price point that more serious players can afford — not to produce larger quantities of imported instruments that merely look like Suhr guitars.I think they are pretty expensive for what they are - my custom would be less then $1600 - and it will play the socks of the Rasmus I am sure And they are as ugly as an ugly thing that has fallen from the top of an ugly tree and hit every ugly branch on the way down Is this a cynical ploy to use the Suhr name?

HA! HA! HA! Happy Jack, I agree with you about the ugly thing! If this is any representation as to what manufacturers are doing these days, I'd say you did the right thing by getting your beautiful guitar custom made. You got exactly what you wanted at a better price than what is being offered out there by these so-called 'value brand' off-shoots of guitar companies that sell over-priced guitars to begin with (I have two used Epiphones, but I would never have bought one new)! These guys sure went all out to try to sell their product on their website, but to me, it seems they are trying to do what Gibson did with their Epi Elitist line. That line was discontinued by Gibson (or Epiphone) a while back, so let's see if Suhr does better with their attempts - I think not!

They look like they will be $999 here when all is said and done. Not for me, but many will love them I am sure.

Should have caught me around 1985 or so. I'm would have loved them then. Not my style anymore for sure. All in all though if the parts and set up are all that, it could be alot of guitar for about the same price as a US strat. Bogner tried something like this with a Chinese built amp called an Alchemist. I owned one for a while but the honeymoon was over very quickly for me on that one. Traded it for my newest honey of a Strat.
