I know there are a mixture of beginners and quite experienced people on here on here
It would be interesting to know what methods they are learning by and in particular any books or videos or learning tools that they can recommend.
I must admit I bought loads of books and most of them were rubbish
I like You Tube lessons especially Three Chord Guitar (of course) and I will always dig out lessons to songs I am working on
I also use John Ganapes " Blues You Can Use" series of books / Cds which I think are very good
David Meades "10 Minute Guitar workout" is good but is just a number of exercises
I also find Tuxguitar / Guitarpro is a fantastic tool for learning songs.
So what can you recommend? Recommendations from advanced players are important.
I have included a poll for the hell of it vote for the method that you think has helped the most.

I seem to spend most of my time with the guitar in front of my computer. I found Mojo's videos to be very helpful especially for that extra encouragement when other methods were not producing the results as quickly as I would like.
I found Electric Guitar Coach Deluxe to be very useful. I also have Learn and Master Guitar which is a serious computer based tool. The biggest downside of it is that it needs you to learn to read music rather than rely on Tabs. Other than that I would recommend it whole heartedly.

I mainly use youtube and tab sites. I find a tab for a song I want and then try and match it up with a live performance of that song as some of these tab sites are awful.
I also have a tutor who I seem sometimes if im struggling with something.
I have about 8 subscriptions for youtube so get regular updates.

I try and pick out the tunes on Youtube I think will be easy to learn, then play around for a while until I get stuck/fed up.... I'll probably never get all the way through something but I have a lot of fun just playing the thing...not sure that's the idea but it's working for me.

Hey I forgot that one - I used that early doors it was pretty good and reasonably priced.
You YouTubers - a question - can you loop sections? or do you have to convert them to an audio format first?

I voted computer based learning because I use all of the options listed in the poll except for the first two. I use a simple version of Music Coach Player for their Chord Miner 100 feature. I also use this website: bettylou.zzruss.com/ to find and listen to the chord progressions for hundreds of popular songs. I also use Audacity to record. It also allows users to play, slow down and loop songs in mp3 format. And of course, I also check out Mojo's videos so he can show me how it's all actually done.

My way of learning is to listen. I listen to a lot of music, and I am always thinking about "How did he just play that?" I rarely geti t right, but it has started many fun adventures I also play a lot, which to me is where it's at. I don't like to do scales or stuff like that. I just like to play... so I do.

I think most of us are like that - If you could play a gig of half finished songs intros and licks you could book me for a week ;D ;D
I think the important thing is having fun and if you are - eventually you will have the skills to get all the way through something and if you don't you are still having fun - top attitude to have for me
I find I can do that more and more. I can't transcribe a whole song but I can do bits once I get a start

Really a little of all of it, although the discovery of youtube has been very rewarding.

At first I bought some methodical books by "Phil Capone" . Then I surfed the internet for lessons, and youtube (that's how I've found Mojo). I use guitarpro as well.
