Well almost exactly one year after Adventure number 1 we ventured out to see the Best British Blues Band 2011 - King King, featuring my fellow country man Allan Nimmo. This guy can really play guitar and has an outstanding voice too.
Naturally the evening was not without incident. The venue was a Blues club inside a working man's club on the outskirts of Manchester. When we arrived, only half an hour early, we could not find the way in! The front door was locked and no-one answered our buzzing of the entry system. Undaunted, HJ set off to find an alternative entrance.
He found an open door and breezed in with his entourage trailing close behind. Turns out this was the stage door and we came out on stage, where King King were in the process of setting up their gear and doing the sound check. Initially they looked a little surprised to have the punters joining them on stage.
In a room next to the one where the band were performing some elderly ladies were playing Bingo! HJ thought his luck was in. Not with the Bingo, you understand.
The band were excellent, very tight and the blues they play is rock based. Allan Nimmo claims Paul Kossof as one of his major influences.
We had a great time and Rob, I can confirm HJ is alive and well, playing Led Zeppelin tunes on his guitar.
Some footage of King King in action:

Very cool! I had never heard of King King, but I like them! Thanks for posting the video! You are welcome GMan. They are a new band. Allan Nimmo usually plays in a band with his brother, the band is called, originally enough, The Nimmo Brothers. I recommend you check them out on Youtube It is unfortunate that Blues artists don't seem to get the recognition that they deserve. I think that has always been the case from what I've read about folks like Bo Diddely, John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy. But that doesn't make it right. Just don't get HJ started on the subject, unless you have a few hours to spare! That probably means it's a good thing me and HJ are far apart, we could end up with too much 'blues weight' on one side of the planet. That can't be good
