I've been playing for 1 year now and I wish to get myself a fine electro-acoustic guitar. What I'm looking for is not too pricy, nice acoustically sounding guitar. So I need your advice, perhaps you know some models that left you happy I'd appreciate any opinion, thanks in advance

It does depend on how much you want to pay but a a starting point
Yamaha APX series are pretty good
Cort SFX series are nice probably better value for money than the Yamaha
Takamine EG series
I tried all those and went with the Cort
Obviously this is all personal opinion
Vintage, Tanglewood do some nice guitars at reasonable prices.
Ibanez Talman for something a little different or a Godin Kingpin for something very different
It is very dependent on budget - try loads - fall in love with one!

You mentioned like 3 guitar models that I was interested in before, and thought I should try those. I got scared of yamaha APX series becouse of some new tech electronics in it, never heard of Cort, I will try that one as well. Many thanks for your advice mate, you said exactly what I wanted to hear. I'd hear other people opinions too, so feel free to write.

Cort are one of the biggest guitar manufacturers in the world and make / have made guitars for Fender, G&L, Ibanez, Tanglewood, Schecter etc They are starting to push their own brand a little more now . I think the APX is a pretty safe bet TBH

I recently got myself a freshman, after sitting in the shop for a few hours I choose it due to it's sound and the fact I could afford it ( just). www.freshmanguitars.co.uk/hires/apollo2ocb.htmit's sound easily matched some of the guitars twice its price ( at least in the semi-acoustic section )

Really nice looking guitar you have there verbosity, problem is, none of the shops in my town offer such guitars, so i wont be able to try it out. For now I have a list of guitars I shall try while in the shop: Ibanez AEL10E ; Takamine EG260C BK ; Takamine EG260C BSB and perhaps Yamaha APX500 but its a bit expensive for me.

Who import guitars from the far East the their designs and QC? Never tried one but have only heard good reviews. Supposed to be really good value for money

I've heard they are Scottish, but can't confirm, but they are British, and manufacture their guitars here in the UK. Without namedropping, I know a couple of famous folkes who also own them ( though they are not famous for their music lol ) @ mohikanas , 'Fraid I couldn't comment on any of those guitars, pick them up and play them to see which you like best ;P

That is interesting. I was under the impression they were made in the far east to Freshmans design but QCed and set up in the UK.

I could be wrong ( wouldn't be the first time ) Yeah - unfortunately I think you are. I thought that the prices were on the low side for guitars of that quality to be manufactured in the UK. A bit of research and it *looks* like they are based in East Kilbride and have their guitars made in China but with high quality tone woods and components sourced by Freshman. The guitars are all designed by Freshman. They have a place in the USA now They have the guitars shipped to Scotland where they are checked and set-up At the end of the day if the guitars are good does it matter where they are made? Tour of Freshman here

Accustic guitars have a mind of there own. I have played 2 Martin D28 and they both sounded different. Martin and Taylor have entry level guitars that sound good but don't look good. My wife owns a Martin 000 composite guitar very good sound but it is black. Yamaha for the last 3 years has really stepped up their accustics. I own a Yamaha LJX26C acustic ($800) (cedar top rosewood side and back. It is the best sounding accustic that I have played. Ovations have good sound if you don't mine the shape of the back and the price are good too. My next favorite accustics are made of all cedar, very warm and full rich sound. Don't worry about the brand just go out and play as many as you can. Phil

I'll probably get a few snickers on this but what the heck. If you have a chance check out the Blueridge line of guitars, price range runs from 3-800. For around 800 you can get a solid spruce top with mahog (not laminated) back and sides. I'm not a great player but these sound as good as any 2800.00 Martin I've picked up.

I have played several blue ridge models. I think the fit and finish of them is ok. I have a friend that his favorite guitar is a blue ridge. They do have a good sound. Big in the blue grass circles. I agree with hiram I have heard $300 guitars that sound just as good as $1000+ guitars. Phil

I played a Blue Ridge last weekend. Really nice tone, nice woods, played very nice.....till I found out the price. Then I was floored. I would have expected it to cost three or four times it's price. It is hands down the best value in an acoustic instrument that I know of.
