I did a make over on our sound system in my church. Moved things around, getting more of the noise off the platform and expanded the sound booth. More table space cleaning up the wires and after 4 hour of work everything looked better, sounded better. Tested every mic and connection balanced the new speaker placement and even wired up our new Roland Stage Piano and it sounded great. Our old upright piano maxes out at 86-88 Db and we have cranked our volume up to 90-92 Db and we needed a better piano.
So I went home with a smile on my Face on Friday.
Went to church early to do a sound check and the stage monitors were dead. After 45 min of checking the connection, heavy duty praying and perhaps a few inappropriate thoughts. I finally plugged the monitors into the mono out put and we had sound, couldn't adjust the inputs very well. Still was unsure what was going on. Came back on Monday night and checked out the whole board.
Only 12 of the 16 channels worked, 2 monitor channels were dead and our tape inputs were dead too. Whoooops.@$#%^&**
I think this is a warning that it will all crash very soon.
Our 15 year old Peavey mixer is going fast.
So I am in the hunt for a newer 32 channel mixer very soon. Peavey or Yamaha is probably in the budget. Beringer's are $400 TO $600 But I am worried about the quality. I am sure I can get something for $600 to $1200 so we don't have to go acoustic. Wish me luck and pray it dosen't crash.
